Gorgeous Couple’s Sweet Love novel Chapter 75

It was a strange number but the person on the other side asked a question like this without any hesitation. So I knew the first second that it was Teresa.

I lowered my head and replied, "Teresa, you're still sneaky as before. Whether it's Benjamin or Zack, you're always using your own way to force them."

Soon, she received a text message: "Do I need to force Benjamin?"

Oh, no, she really didn't need to.

I blocked this number.

I got up and went to the police station after washing up. Bob saw me and said with a smile, "Zack has decided to go back to City B before summer comes."

"Who's going with him?" I asked nervously.

"You and me!" Bob smiled. "And September. The procedures have come through already."

"When are we leaving?" I asked.

Bob explained, "You and I can leave whenever we want but Zack's probably gonna have to hand over the tasks at hand. Maybe a week later or so."

I was very grateful to Zack.

He had always been following me, wherever I was.

When I went back to the neighborhood that night, I met Steve. I looked at him in surprise. He hesitated for a moment and explained to me, "Em, I needed to come back to this place to do something... I wanted to see you."

"Why?" I asked with a smile.

"Em, I'm sorry that I..."

I spread out my hands to stop her. "Stop! I don't want to share your nostalgia. Get lost"

Hearing my words, Steve said in a flustered tone, "Em, I missed you very much in the past four months when I was in Eburgh."

I looked at him and said blandly, "Steve, you know my temper. When I say it's over, it's over."

That's exactly what I thought of the relationship between me and Benjamin.

I cut it off completely, no more strings attached.

"Em..." he muttered incomprehensibly to himself.

I bypassed him and left. I never saw Steve again for the rest of my life.

I went back to the apartment and took a hot bath. Then I wrapped myself in a white bathrobe and went to the balcony. I took my cell phone and found Benjamin's number. After I looked at it for a long time, I deleted it.

But then I felt it was not enough and then I blocked his number along with Victoria's.

I lay on the couch and felt a little helpless. Then I suddenly remembered the low voice from last night. "Did I make you sad?"

And then those indifferent words, "But I can't be with two women at the same time. Emma...you know what I mean."

I knew it. He had chosen her.

I knew that she was the one he loved.

Just like Steve loved Charlotte back then, I had always been the woman who failed. I felt wronged, embarrassed, and uncomfortable, but I still refused to admit defeat.

So what if I admitted? Admitting defeat just made them look down on me even more!

I took the initiative to call Joel. He was a little surprised and asked, "Emma, what happened?"

I asked injuredly, "Joel, we are brother and sister, right?"

"Emma, you are my only little sister, the second heir of the Shears family, and our grandpa's only granddaughter."

I could hear the implications in his words. I'd only be his sister if I were to return to the Shears family, I said sadly, "Joel, both your and my relationship seem to be very complicated. Yesterday, I was divorced again."

I went through two failed marriages.

I was a complete mess. I wanted to fight for a better life for myself but couldn't.

"With Benjamin?" It seemed that Joel didn't want to talk about him anymore. He comforted me in a cold tone, "I got you, Emma, don't worry. The Shears family got you."

I bit my lips and said, "But I don't dare to go back to you."

"Emma, you are the only granddaughter of the Shears family, so whether you're willing to come back or not, you're still a member of the family."

"Grandpa..." I muttered to myself.

"Grandpa has never treated you as an outsider," said Joel in a soft voice, "Em, I'll come and pick you up."

That's something Benjamin also used to say to me.

However, everything that happened in the past was nothing but a pile of ashes to me.

I had a marriage and a child, but in the end, I couldn't keep him.

Since I couldn't keep him, the only way was to let him go.

When Joel came to my apartment that night, he held me in his arms and said softly, "If you want to cry, cry. I'll stay here with you."

That night, I cried very depressedly. I thought it was great to have an elder brother! At least I could vent my sadness without hesitation!

In the early morning, Joel packed up my luggage and said, "You said that your flight back to City B at 9 o'clock in the morning was with September."

"Yeah." I sat on the bed and said wearily, "I'll leave in a minute."

Joel asked, "Why is she also going over there?"

"For an investigation... About the Heaney family, I think." I hesitated for a moment and said, "September intends to have the baby there."

"Thank you, Em."Joel closed up the case for me, sat beside me, and said in a hoarse voice, "She hates me now."

I said, "Well, I know."

I said, "Thank you."

Zack ignored my gratitude and said, "Stat tgere. I will go to City B in a few days. Wait for me."

"Mm," I asked. "Which room can I live in?"

"The first room down the corridor."

I hung up the phone and went to the room he referred to. There was a big bed in it, and there was a dark wardrobe beside the bed.

I opened the wardrobe and was about to hang my clothes inside when I saw a row of white shirts. For some reason, Zack liked clothes of a cold tone and he was always wearing a suit.

There were Zack's clothes in the room, which showed that it was obviously his room. My fingers paused for a long time before finally putting my clothes into the suitcase, and then I followed Bob to the police station to report.

Bob had worked here before he left City B. When he came back, he naturally returned to the crime squad, and I was assigned to the Internal Affairs Department again.

Bob consoled him and said, "Zack's not here yet, if you get transferred to the crime squad now, people are gonna talk. Wait for Zack to be back here and he'll assign you a job that is fit for you."

"A job fit for me? Five years ago, I was an undercover agent and the best one there was.

Although I couldn't be an undercover agent anymore, the crime squad was still the best place for me.

But given the fact that I was pregnant, Zack was probably gonna see that as a reason to not let me go back to the crime squad.

He cared about me too much.

Thinking of this made me very worried. On the way back to the apartment, I received a phone call from Joel. He said, "Grandpa heard that you work in City B today, so he finally decided to go back to his hometown to settle down."

He had stayed in the city I was in for years even if I only visited him a few times in a year.

I was the sole reason that he was in that city.

I asked, "You and Rose are coming back to City B?"

"Yes, she is my wife now," said Joel.

I thought for a moment before saying, "Joe, September finally decided to escape from both of you. But now you... she'll think that you're doing it on purpose."

"I know, but I want to stay in the city where she lives." After a pause, he said in a low voice, "I just want to stay with her like this."

"Brother, it's you who has done the wrong thing, but I always feel that you are the one who is the most wronged. In the future... it's better for you to be more restrained."

He would only make September even angrier if he did this.

Joel fell silent in the end.

I put down my cell phone, tilted my head, and looked out of the window. Bob drove the car and asked, "Was it September's trash ex?"

"Yeah." I drew back my sight and explained, "He's coming back to City B."

Bob raised his eyebrows and asked in an unpleasant tone, "He abandoned September, so why are you still calling him 'brother'?"
