"Why would I pester you?" He sneered and said, "Emma, at least let me f**k you senseless before I leave."
He sounded exceptionally tender whenever he uttered my name.
He really did end up f**king me senseless. Only at night did he put on his suit and leave.
I lay on the bed and waited for a long time before I went to the bathroom to shower. After I was done showering, I put on my clothes.
He had torn my bra into shreds. Fortunately, it was winter right now, so I was wearing a loose down jacket. I could walk around without a bra and people wouldn't notice.
I called a cab using my phone and went back to the home Steve and I shared.
The thought of going back made me sick to the core.
As soon as I arrived at the stairs of my apartment building, I got a call from Steve. I answered it with a sneer. "What's up? What’s the matter?"
"Steve said anxiously, "Em, I know that you have found out about it. Can you come home first? I will explain everything to you."
"What's there to be explained?" I entered the elevator and said with a smile, "Steve, you've betrayed me. Let's get a divorce."
Although I was framed by Steve's mistress, I did cheat on him. Hence, I was calm and composed.
I didn't want to argue with Steve. We have only been married for half a year, anyway. I just wanted to divorce him on peaceful terms.
"I will never divorce you!" Steve suddenly exploded with rage and shouted. I immediately hung up and walked out of the elevator.
I fished out my key and opened the door. I then subconsciously glanced around the living room. Steve was sitting on the sofa with his head lowered in dejection. When he heard the sound of the door being opened, he immediately got up and walked over to me.
"Em, it's all my fault. Please forgive me." His face was extremely pale, and there was a thin layer of sweat on his forehead. I looked away from him and sidestepped him. I then walked over to the table and poured myself a glass of water.
I have not eaten or drunk anything for a day and a night. However, I merely felt thirsty. I wasn't hungry at all.
"Em, are you listening to me? I know that I was wrong, but Charlotte Levenne was the one who seduced me first. And she threatened me not to tell you about it."
In fact, even if Charlotte didn't threaten him, he wouldn't have dared to tell me about it. Truth be told, men were disloyal creatures to begin with, and cheating wasn't such a big deal. But it was pathetic for him to blame everything on the woman he cheated on me with.
After drinking a glass of water, I felt that it was not enough. I poured myself another glass of water and drank it in one breath. When Steve saw that I was ignoring him, he snatched the glass from me and asked anxiously, "Are you listening to me?"
"Yes, I am. Please go on." I snatched the glass back from him. But I suddenly found the glass extremely dirty as it had been touched by him, so I passed it back to him.
These hands of his had touched another woman. The more I thought about it, the more I found him disgusting. There was suddenly an upheaval in my stomach. I quickly pushed him away and rushed to the bathroom to throw up. However, I vomited out nothing but liquid.
As I had not eaten anything for a day, there was nothing in my stomach.
Steve followed me into the bathroom and called out with concern, "Em!"
"Shut up!"
Tears welled up in my eyes as I gazed at him, and there was unspeakable pain in my heart. Steve was a rather handsome man, and his career was going pretty well. However, no matter how good he was in other aspects, he wasn't loyal to me after our marriage and cheated on me.
Right now, he was standing at the bathroom door like an obedient husband. There was anxiety, fear, and worry in his eyes as he looked at me.
He listened to me and stopped speaking. I wiped the corners of my lips with a piece of tissue and said weakly, "Steve, let's get a divorce."
"No! Em, I will never divorce you!" Steve was starting to panic. He tried to grab my hand, but I avoided him. The rims of his eyes were red as he said, "I love you. We've just gotten married. I'm not divorcing you. Em, I really love you. Please don't leave me. Let's sit down and talk about it."
"Love? I would be delusional if I were to believe you! Steve, don't force me to scold you! You're the one who cheated on me first. You know what kind of person I am. I find you dirty!"
I knew Steve well too. If he were to know that I had cheated on him, he would find me dirty too. He was a masochistic man and a mummy boy.
He was a masochist whenever he was with me, but every time he saw his mum, he acted like an obedient little lamb. I had enough of him after being with him for several years.
At this moment, it seemed that Steve's patience was exhausted. His face was contorted with anger as he asked, "What on earth do you want? Emma Shears, I've let go of my pride and begged you. And you still want a divorce?"
I said calmly, "Yes."
My response ignited his flames of anger. He grabbed my arm and dragged me out of the bathroom. He then clutched my neck forcefully with both hands and said fiercely, "You want a divorce, huh? Do you want me to beat you to death?"
Back then, my mother felt that he was a good man. He treated me with a lot of tenderness throughout the two years we were in a relationship too.
Never have I expected that after just six months of marriage, he had become a completely different person. He always came home late at night, and sometimes, he wouldn't spend the night at home at all.
I didn't have a problem with it. As we had just gotten married, I trusted him a lot. I had never expected him to do something so disgusting.
As Steve took off my clothes, he saw the hickeys on my body. He stepped on my chest angrily and cursed, "Sl*t!"
I couldn't help but sob silently as I lay on the ground, and I felt terribly upset and wronged.
Steve wasn't done venting his anger yet. He kicked me a few more times as he scolded me, and in the end, he slapped me across the face again.
A moment ago, he was still begging me not to divorce him. Now, he was ceaselessly torturing me like a beast.
After Steve was done venting out all his anger by beating me up, as if he had suddenly regained his senses, he hugged me and muttered, "Emma, I'm so sorry. I was in a panic just now. Does it hurt?"
Did it hurt? Of course it did! It f*cking hurt!
I used every ounce of strength in my body to push him away, slowly stood up, and stumbled into the bedroom.
I took out some clothes from the wardrobe and got changed. I then grabbed my bank card and identity card to leave this place.
Steve followed me to the elevator. I leaned weakly against the elevator wall and shook my head. "Steve, just get prepared for the divorce."
After everything that had happened, I definitely couldn't let this marriage go on.
In the end, Steve faltered. He didn't follow me into the elevator.
I stumbled away from the apartment building. Some neighbours saw the bruises and scratches on my face and asked me about what happened, but I merely sidestepped them and left. I was a little lost as I stood by the roadside.
None of the vehicles that came and went were willing to stop and give me a ride. The more I thought about what happened, the more upset I became. I was upset because of Steve, because of Charlotte, and because of how my marriage turned out. I used to be proud of having Steve as a husband, but right now, I felt like the biggest fool in the world.
My marriage had definitely come to an end.
