Chapter 1170: Rewards (7) [Bonus]

[I hope both sides of your pillow are warm tonight, Chronotitan </3]

“What’s a Legacy Treasure?”

“Pay up.”

Sylas did as he was told.

“A Legacy Treasure is a Treasure tied to a Legacy of some sort.”

“And?” Sylas asked.

“What more do you want? That’s everything.”

“But this doesn’t do anything. I can’t sense anything from it at all. There’s also no description. It’s a blank slate.”

“That’s because it’s a Legacy Treasure vessel, not a real Legacy Treasure.”

Sylas frowned. So it was useless?

He was about to ask how he should make use of it when he noticed something. The little girl had just provided an interesting answer just now.

She was answering an important question without asking for payment—which meant he had stumbled into a loophole of sorts. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

So, instead of asking specifically about the Treasure, he changed his wording.

“How would you use a Legacy Treasure Vessel?”

“They’re very good at consolidating a Path into a single core. Often, they’re actually quite good, um… test subjects. Legacy Treasures are almost like living beings, but not quite. They have layers akin to humanoids and beasts, and they can read and react to the world much the same.”

“Glyphspire Crucible… so it’s a legacy relating to Rune Mastery?”

The little girl didn’t answer, but Sylas also didn’t need her to.

Even now, Sylas was still a bit confused. What use would a test subject for his Runes have? He was already capable of testing his Runes just fine without something like this.

Unless…

‘A single Rune is fine, but what about something as complicated as a Rune Armor? The number of moving parts and pieces involved, each of them having various triggers and tweaks to them… that would be much more difficult to arrange…’

But it still felt… lackluster.

Sylas was already capable of that. He had modified his own Scorpion Warlord Armor into a Serpentes Armor for Cassarae to use.

Of course, that armor was far weaker than his own by a substantial margin. But he had done it so casually and easily that it was practically a footnote to him. Though, granted, he had had the help of the UniForge to complete it so quickly nonetheless.

Still, the proof of concept was there. If he could do it once, he could do it again—and better.

Sylas rotated the crystal in his palm, not saying much at first, but then his mind flickered back to Grin’s blade again.

Sylas nodded. It seemed he would have to do his best to get his hands on another Gold Gene very soon. Of course, he’d definitely have to get more than just one, because after his recent Gene Class upgrade, well…

He was in dire need of more, because his healing factor had just tanked once again.

Unfortunately, the Golden Grove definitely didn’t have them in large supply.

Even worse, there was definitely no way he would get his hands on the sheer number of Legendary Genes he would need if his two Gene Classes reached that stage as well. But… one problem at a time.

Sylas put the crystal away. Now, there were just three items left. Looking at the list of them, Sylas chose one and watched it manifest.

A tome fell from thin air, and Sylas caught it. It had a great heft to it, but what was more shocking was that it seemed to be growing heavier as time passed.

No, it wasn’t a factor of time. Sylas could feel that it was subtly pulling at him, taking into something deep within his body.

Astral Stutter? Sylas thought. It was pulling on his spatial Progenitor Flame Ability? Why was that? And why would that make it heavier?

Sylas wanted to move to the page to open it, but the quickly changing weight of the tome was likewise making the front cover heavier.

‘It’s not weight. Its mass is changing. Its literal imprint on the Mesh of Reality is increasing at a pace that I can’t quite keep up with… it’s locking me in place…’

Sylas didn’t really know what was happening, but despite the cover being too heavy for him to open, he was still holding the tome up as though it wanted him to feel its mass and presence, but didn’t want to destroy him.

And then it all stopped.
