Chapter 324 The Return
Chapter 324 The Return
:
She looked up and saw Jade, Julian, and Silas standing there.
But when she saw the man being held by their security guards, she collapsed.
It was Lyndon Spenser, looking very much alive.
But…
Wasn’t he dead?
Lyndon looked at her and let out a chilling, cold-blooded laugh.
“Sweetheart, aren’t you happy to see me alive? Why the long face?”
Alive?
And talking?
Amara’s mind flashed back to the motel room and the knife she’d buried in his chest.
Looking at the very real man in front of her, she was paralyzed with visceral terror.
She tried to crawl away, but her legs were useless, like noodles beneath her.
Lyndon lunged forward, but the guards held him back with effortless strength.
Julian gave a subtle, sharp nod to his men.

They released their grip, and Lyndon marched toward Amara with heavy, deliberate steps.
He looked like he wanted to stomp her into the very floorboards of the manor.
Amara tried to get up again, but her body wouldn’t obey her.
Seeing him close in, she abandoned all pride and crawled toward Hudson.
“Hudson! Hudson!”
She was sobbing hysterically, her voice ragged and broken.
“Save me! Hudson, please! He’s going to kill me! Save me!”

Hudson didn’t move a muscle, looking down at her with a look of total, icy detachment.
Before she reached him, Lyndon grabbed a handful of her hair and yanked her back.
Her head snapped back, hitting the marble steps with a sickening, heavy thud.
Stars exploded in her vision as the entire ballroom began to spin.
Before she could even gasp, she was hauled up from the floor by Lyndon.
She looked into his eyes, which were full of a burning, murderous hatred.
“Amara, did you really think you could just stab me and walk away into the sunset?”
Amara realized with a jolt that no one in the room was coming to help her.
She was on her own against a man she had tried to murder.
She tried one last desperate play, grabbing Lyndon’s hands in a plea.
“Lyndon, listen to me! Jade and Julian set us up! They made us fight each other! Don’t believe them! They’re your enemies! I’m the one you should trust! We’re a team, you and me!”
Lyndon stared at her, his expression unreadable and silent.
Amara thought she was winning him over and looped her arms around his neck.
“Lyndon… I love you. Let’s just go. We can leave Kingston and start over.”
Lyndon asked softly, “You love me?”
Amara nodded frantically, tears streaming down her face. “Of course, I-”
Suddenly, his hands were around her throat, a cold, jagged laugh escaping his lips.
“You tell everyone you love them. Your ‘love’ is cheaper than dirt!”
Amara struggled violently as her oxygen was cut off.
“Lyndon… please… I’m serious… let go… I can’t breathe…”
“Serious?”
He sneered, his grip tightening until her face turned a bruised shade of purple.

He ripped his shirt open with one hand, showing the raw, jagged scar on his chest.
“Is this your ‘serious’ love? This is how you show your affection for me?
“I’m done with your lies, you viper! I’d be a fool to ever listen to you again!”
Amara was starting to fade, her vision tunneling into darkness.
In a panic, she reached out and grabbed a heavy crystal lamp from a nearby table.
