AUTHOR'S POV
“ Silas ” His name rolled off Sara's tongue efficiently.
Silas easily heard her sweet voice coming from behind. He turned around, surprised to find her standing behind him on some distance. Her arms were wrapped around her body as she tried to protect herself from the cold and her eyes...Her eyes held some weird emotions in them. It felt like she was overwhelmed with emotions.
Did she have a nightmare? He wondered and took out his hands from his pockets. He pushed his right hand forward, before he called out to her. “ Come here. ”
His voice was demanding, he knew that. He never used this tone on her before. It was only impulsive, but surprisingly, Sara listened and strolled to him.
The moment she got close enough, Silas turned completely around and took a step toward her to end the distance between them.
“ Are you cold? ” He asked, his voice filled with affection for her.
Sara looked up in his light brown orbs, which shined under the moonlight. She inhaled sharply and stepped back from him. Her heart was running a marathon.
“ Sara. ” He called out to her, a warning clear in his tone but for what? She didn't know.
But she could only think about the way her name sounded so good coming out of his mouth.
Nibbling on her lower lip, she took another step back in a trance. She shouldn't have come to him. Staying close to him was always dangerous. All emotions hit her hard and she stumbled away from him.
“ Sara. Don't step back or you are going to- ” Silas reached out to her but before he could grab her, her scream ran out in the air and her body fell down the ramp.
Sighing, Silas shook his head.
Why was she so childish?
He walked closer to the edge of the ramp and found her trying to stay afloat as she screamed harder.
Shaking his head, he jumped in the water and tried to grab her thrashing body.
“ Sara! Sara! ” He called out to her trying to make her stop thrashing violently or they both were going to drown.
He pushed her body up, her legs wrapping around his torso instinctively.
“ Si-Silas. ” Sara gasped out and wrapped her arms around his neck too.
She was terrified. She felt passing out to not have to feel herself in the water right now. She was so scared of her water. It was a natural fear that followed her around since birth.
“ Sara. Don't move okay? ” Silas whispered, his breathing labored as her weight threatened to weigh him down too.
“ I - I think I am going to die! ” Sara threw her head on Silas's shoulder as her grip around his body grew stronger.
“ No. You won't die. Now please loosen up your hold around me or we both are going to die. ” His voice sounded muffled as he tried to breath with her arms and legs squeezing him like she wanted to become one with him.
“ Silas. ” She whispered, still terrified of the water that surrounded them both.
Sara failed miserably as worry won over her stubborness. She didn't know anything about taking care of others and if he fell sick, there would be no one to look after him.
“ Silas. The water is cold. Please come up. ” Forgetting all about the fact that she too was wet and shivering, she pushed her right hand forward asking him to come out of water.
This was so unlike her. Silas lifted his eyebrows comically and swimmed closer. His face was parallel to her knees.
“ Are you worried about me? ” He teased, a grin coming up to rest on his lips.
Sara's mouth went dry as she held her breath back. She was really worried about him - even more than herself and she realized this just now.
Sighing softly, she placed her hand down on her lap. Her eyes bore into Silas's light brown orbs, no answer coming up in her mind which could assure him that she was not worried about him.
Silas lifted his hand and rested it on her right knee. His touch was warm in contrast to everything cold around her. He removed his hand after a while and leaned in to plant a soft kiss on her knee.
Sara let out a shaky breath as she felt trimmers running up and down her body. Her heart beat had quickened immensely.
Silas's eyes were always soft, she had noticed this once again.
Shaking her head, Sara pushed herself off the sitting position to run away from him when she heard the splash in the water and a thump on the ramp.
Silas came up.
