Forced Marriage To The Secret Billionaire novel Chapter 17

AUTHOR'S POV

Getting ready and eating breakfast, because Silas wouldn't let her leave without it, Sara made her way to the huge building in the middle of the city, that was the headquarter of Lexington Corporation.

Her mind was in turmoil. There was something fishy about the whole thing. Grandfather Magnus called her back on his own. If someone had told her that this would happen to her one day, she would laugh it off but this really happened.

Pushing everything at the back of her mind, Sara held her head high and approached the Chairman's office that belonged to Grandfather.

One day, this office would be hers. She was going to make sure of it.

Heaving a deep breath, Sara pushed her hand forward and knocked on the door lightly.

She waited for a moment until she heard the ' come in ' from inside and then turned the door knob to open the door. Stepping inside, she closed the door behind her and turned around to find Grandfather Magnus sitting on his chairman seat.

Slowly, her eyes travelled towards the second person sitting in front of him on the other side.

Rowan.

“ I didn't you know you were busy Grandfather. Should I come later? ” Sara asked politely and pointed towards the door behind her.

She could detect the negative emotions in Grandfather Magnus's eyes, but it did not matter to her.

Nothing mattered as long as she could get the Lexington Corporation. Nothing and no one.

“ Come and sit. ” He commnaded in his usual bone-chilling tone, that did not phase Sara anymore.

Walking ahead elegantly and ignoring Rowan altogether, Sara took her seat in front of him.

“ How are you Sara? ” Rowan grabbed her attention by asking the unexpected question.

She whipped her head around and threw him a tight-lipped smile. “ Perfectly Alright. ”

Rowan's eyes were narrowed down in thought. It felt like he was searching for something on Sara's face. Something that Sara could not pinpoint.

“ Good to know. ” He nodded his head lazily and turned his head back to Grandfather Magnus who was signing some papers.

“ Lexington Corporation made a deal with Alexander Construstions recently. ” Grandfather Magnus disclosed to Sara without even looking up from the papers.

Something was definitely fishy here.

Grandfather Magnus never avoided eye-contact with a person. He liked to stare the other person down, until they wanted to disappear to save themselves from his eyes.

“ That's good to know. ” Sara breathed out and glanced at Rowan whose eyes were once again fixed at her.

What the hell was wrong with him and his observing gaze these days? Sara was unable to understand.

“ What do you know about Alexanders? ” Finally lifting his gaze from the papers, Grandfather Magnus gave her the undivided attention she wanted and despised at the same time.

“ That they are the richest in the country. They own half the buildings around this country. Unmatchable power and wealth. ” Shrugging her shoulders, Sara said what came in her mind with the word Alexanders.

Power. Alexanders ate power, wore power, drank power and breathed power.

They are the most powerful here, but they had always kept their privacy and their names out of any scandals. They were like those mystery people from some hidden society. A family everyone knew about, but no one knew about them at the same time.

To think about it, Silas had the same last name. A smile threatened to curl Sara's lips up, but she held it back in front of these two people who were dissecting her with their eyes.

“ I should change my question. ” Grandfather Magnus shook his head and sighed out, confusing Sara who was not really feeling that well.

“ Who do know from Alexander Family? ” He asked Sara who shook her head instantly. “ No one. ”

She really did not know anyone from their family. She had not even seen any members of Alexander family like everyone else here.

“ Then why did the new chairman of the Lexington asked for you specially? ” Rowan sneered grabbing Sara's attention once more.

A frown rested upon Sara's forehead when she turned to face Rowan who was sitting right in front of her. He looked neutral, but there was some kind of malice hidden behind his sharp eyes.

Tears were pricking her eyes and it was becoming extremely hard to breath.

“ Sara. Sara, are you listening? ” She heard Rowan calling out to her worriedly from behind.

She looked down at her hands and saw the blood coating them once more. Bile rose up in her throat as the pressure on her chest increased.

“ Sara?! ” Grandfather Magnus's booming voice pulled her out of whatever trance she was in.

Collecting herself, she took in some deep breaths and pushed all memories in the darkest corner of her mind.

“ Everything is alright. I am feeling just a little dizzy. ” She replied without turning around and stormed out of the suffocating office without hearing any reply.

She ran straight to the restroom and turned on the tap to wash her hands. Looking down, she saw the blood once more. She was halucinating.

And she couldn't seem to get herself to stop.

She closed her eyes and kept her hands under the cold water to make herself realize that it was not real. Her breaths were ragged.

Opening her eyes, she found that the blood was still there. Hysterically, she started rubbing her hands to get it off but it was not coming off. Fear gripped her heart causing her to rub her hands so hard that her own nails ripped off her skin.

She didn't seem to keep the images off her mind.

Suddenly, her phone started ringing in her bag which she had thrown on the floor earlier in hurry. She averted her teary eyes away from her hands.

Taking a deep breath, she picked up the bag and took her cellphone out of it.

Seeing the caller Id, she felt like crying all over again. She picked up the call and placed the phone against her right ear.

Her eyes moved to the mirror in front of her. All blood seemed to have disappeared and all the voices in her mind dulled down.

“ What do you want for Dinner, Dear Wife? Remember you left me in charge of taking care of the house and you. ”
