Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 81

Grace’s voice was calm as she finally spoke to the man on the other end of the line.

“Ethan. I want you to search your conscience and ask yourself something.”

“In these five years, have I not been good enough to you, to the Ward family?”

“When I almost died on the operating table donating bone marrow to you, where were you?”

“When I fainted from anemia after giving your mother a blood transfusion, where were you?”

“And when the Ward Group’s capital chain broke and I used the only inheritance my mother left me to fill the gap, where were you then?”

“Besides standing by and watching coldly, besides keeping Lilian company when I needed you most, what have you ever done?”

Each question landed like a sledgehammer, striking Ethan’s heart.

He opened his mouth, wanting to argue, but found he couldn’t say a single word.

He tried to sound tough.

“So… so what?! You married me. Wasn’t it your duty to do things for me?!”

“Ha,” Grace scoffed.

“Right. It was my duty to do things for you. So, was it also your duty to carry on with Lilian behind my back?”

“Ethan, we’re divorced. What I do is no longer your business.”

“You…”

Before Ethan could say another word, the phone was snatched away by another hand.

“Mr. Ward.”

Damien’s voice, devoid of any warmth, came through the receiver.

“I’m giving you three seconds to disappear from my world.”

“Otherwise, I wouldn’t mind making the Ward Group disappear from Jarrow City.”

With that, he hung up.

Listening to the dial tone, Ethan froze on the spot.

Damien’s threat was like a bucket of ice water poured over his head.

He knew Damien wasn’t joking. He had the power to do it.

In the room, Grace watched Damien hang up the phone, a storm of emotions swirling within her.

She was silent for a long moment before she finally couldn't help but ask.

“Damien… why did you do that?”
