Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 513

He kissed her on the forehead. “Grandma is a good person; she’ll be fine.”

“It’s all my fault… all my fault…”

In the car on the way to the hospital, Grace kept blaming herself. “I’ve been so busy dealing with Serena Shum lately that I haven’t been to see Grandma… The last time I saw her was half a month ago… She said her chest felt tight, and I thought it was just the weather. I just told her to get more rest… I’m such an idiot…”

“Grace!”

Damien freed his right hand and held hers. “The doctors say that a heart attack can happen without any warning. Grandma is getting older, after all. She’ll be okay.”

“But if I had just paid more attention to her…”

“There are no ‘if’s,” Damien cut her off. “You’ve done a great job. You hired a caregiver for her and gave her a peaceful life. You gave her a stable old age, don’t blame yourself for everything.”

The car quickly pulled up to the entrance of the hospital’s emergency department.

Just as they got out, Felix came running up to them.

“Mr. Clarke, Mrs. Clarke.”

“Where is she?” Damien asked urgently.

“She’s in the operating room,” Felix said, wiping sweat from his brow. “The initial diagnosis is an acute extensive anterior myocardial infarction. The situation is quite critical.”

Grace’s legs gave out, and she nearly collapsed to the ground.

Damien caught her, practically carrying her as they walked towards the operating room doors.

The butler was pacing anxiously at the entrance.

“How is she?”

The nearly sixty-year-old butler’s eyes were red. “After dinner, the matriarch said she wanted to take a walk in the garden, but she had barely taken a few steps before she clutched her chest and collapsed… It’s all my fault, I didn’t watch her closely enough…”

“Zeke, don’t blame yourself,” Damien said, patting the old man’s shoulder. “This isn’t your fault.”

Grace leaned against the wall, her eyes fixed on the operating room door.

She remembered when she was a child, just sent to the countryside in the Aurelian Reach. The first time her grandmother saw her, her eyes had turned red.
