Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 38

Looking at her, Ivy suddenly felt that Grace was truly different now.

Her clear eyes were once filled with love for Ethan, hope for her family, and the pain of their betrayal.

Now, all those complex emotions were gone, leaving only a clear, almost cold, calm.

“Ding-dong.”

The doorbell suddenly rang.

Ivy’s expression turned wary. “Who is it? You don’t think it’s the press, do you?”

She went to the door and looked through the peephole.

Outside stood two men in black suits and white gloves. They were well-built and carried themselves with a calm authority, clearly not ordinary people.

Next to them was a large, shockproof wooden crate.

“Excuse me, is this Ms. Grace Hart?” one of the men asked, his voice polite but distant.

Ivy didn’t open the door. “Who are you? What do you want with her?” she asked through the door.

“We were sent by Mr. Clarke to deliver a gift for Ms. Hart.”

Mr. Clarke?

Ivy and Grace exchanged a look.

After a moment’s hesitation, Grace motioned for Ivy to open the door.

“Ms. Hart, good day.”

The man in the lead bowed slightly and handed her a business card. “This is a gift from Mr. Clarke. Please sign for it.”

Grace took the card. It had only a surname and a phone number.

“Clarke.”

Her eyes fell on the enormous wooden crate, and she felt a surge of confusion.

“What is this?”

“Mr. Clarke selected a set of laboratory equipment components for you. He thought you might find them useful,” the man replied smoothly.

Laboratory equipment?
