Grace stared at the data on the screen, her brow furrowed.
It was all going too smoothly.
So smoothly it was unsettling.
“Where’s Damien?” Grace suddenly asked.
“Mr. Clarke went to inspect the logistics park project in the western suburbs today. He said he has an important business dinner tonight.”
“Got it.”
Grace rubbed her sore neck.
Just then, her phone vibrated.
It was a text from Amelia.
[Grace, there’s a private conference on medical device approvals tonight at The Summit Restaurant. A lot of experts will be there. I know you don’t like schmoozing, but this is really important for the project. Would you do me the honor of stopping by? Just for an hour.]
Grace hesitated.
For the sake of the project, it was a risk worth taking.
[Okay, I’ll be there on time.]

Eight o’clock that evening, at The Summit Restaurant.
This was an exclusive, members-only luxury restaurant located on the top floor of Jarrow City’s tallest landmark, offering a panoramic view of the entire city at night.
When Grace arrived, she didn’t see any so-called “group of experts.”
Only Amelia was sitting alone at a table by the window.
“I’m so sorry, the experts’ flight was delayed,” Amelia said, standing up with an apologetic look. “We might have to wait another half hour. Please, Grace, have a seat. Are you hungry? Would you like to order something?”
A flicker of suspicion arose in Grace’s mind, but since she was already here, she couldn’t just turn around and leave.
“It’s fine. A glass of water will do.”
As she sat down, she subconsciously scanned the restaurant.
