Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 312

She paused, as if searching for the right words.

“I can’t pretend nothing happened, and I can’t accept your help with a clear conscience.”

“So, Damien.”

Grace stood up, her back to him as she looked out at the sunset over Cardenia Lake. Her silhouette was thin but resolute.

“Don’t look for me again.”

“Let me go, and let yourself go, too.”

Damien sat there, watching her.

A gust of wind swept up the fallen leaves from the ground.

He tasted something metallic rising in his throat and forced it back down.

*If this is what you want.*

*If my presence only brings you pain and reminds you of those nightmares.*

*Then…*

Damien slowly rose to his feet.

He looked at Grace’s back, and tears finally streamed down his cheeks.

He smiled.

Before Grace could utter any more harsh words, he spoke first.

His voice was hoarse, filled with endless longing.

“Alright.”

“I’ll listen to you.”

Damien bowed his head deeply.

Then he turned and walked toward the black sedan, back toward his own endless darkness.

Grace listened as the sound of his footsteps faded, and the tears she’d been holding back finally broke free.

She didn’t turn around.

The setting sun stretched their shadows long, yet they pointed in opposite directions, never to intersect again.

Grace practically spat the name through clenched teeth.

That sneering tone… it could only be him, the eldest son from the Clarke family’s second household, the one Damien had just cornered.

“That’s me,” Julian said, dropping the act. His voice turned vicious. “Grace, don’t blame me for being ruthless. If you want to blame someone, blame Damien!”

“What do you want? I’m warning you, if you touch a single hair on my grandmother’s head…”

“Cut the crap!” Julian interrupted her. A sharp cracking sound, like a slap, echoed through the phone, followed by the old woman’s pained grunt.

“Stop it! Julian, you monster!” Grace’s eyes instantly turned red as tears streamed down her face.

She wasn’t afraid of death, of losing her reputation, or even of breaking another leg.

But she was terrified of something happening to her grandmother.

Her grandmother was the last good thing she had in this cold world. If she lost her, she didn’t know what reason she would have to keep living.

“Listen up, Grace,” Julian’s voice seethed with the madness of a cornered animal. “I want the share transfer agreement from Damien. Signed and stamped. I want to see it within twenty-four hours. Otherwise, you can start preparing to collect the corpse of that worthless old hag of a grandmother!”

“This slap was just an appetizer. I can’t guarantee where the knife will go next.”
