The atmosphere in the Hart family home was even more oppressive than at the Ward Group.
Since returning from the Arclight Research Institute, Lucian had locked himself in his room, refusing to eat, drink, or speak to anyone.
He only emerged today, moving like an empty shell of a man.
In the living room, Cassian was pacing back and forth anxiously.
Seeing Lucian, he immediately rushed over and unleashed a torrent of accusations.
“Where have you been?! The company is about to go under, and you have the nerve to disappear?!”
“I told you to go find Grace. Did you go or not? What did she say?!”
Lucian lifted his bloodshot eyes and stared at him.
His gaze was so strange and cold that it sent an inexplicable chill down Cassian’s spine.
“Cassian.”
Lucian’s voice was hoarse when he spoke.
“I have a question for you.”
“Five years ago, when I had that car accident, what was the real story behind that experimental drug that saved my life?”
Cassian’s expression changed in an instant.
His eyes darted away, unable to meet Lucian’s.
“Why… why are you asking about that? Didn’t Lilian find someone to get it for you?”
“Find someone?”
Lucian let out a bitter, chilling laugh.
“Did she find Grace?!”
“Was it Grace who spent three days and nights in the lab, failing over a hundred times, nearly killing herself to synthesize it?!”
“Was it her who saved me, while Lilian took credit for her life’s work and presented it to me like a trophy?!”
Lucian grew more agitated as he spoke, grabbing Cassian by the collar, his eyes crimson.
“Tell me! Did you know, too?! Were you all in on it, lying to me?!”
Cassian was terrified by his brother’s state, his face pale.
“I… I didn’t know…”
“You didn’t know?!”
