Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 1

After being locked in the cold storage all night, Grace Hart was finally let out.

She huddled in a corner, her body frozen stiff and numb, the warmth nearly gone from her. A thin layer of ice coated her long, thick eyelashes.

A pair of designer black leather shoes suddenly appeared in her line of sight. Mechanically, she lifted her head.

Ethan Ward stood against the light, like a deity descending from on high.

“Sign it,” he commanded, his tone cold and merciless.

He raised his hand and cruelly tossed the divorce papers onto Grace's face.

With trembling hands, Grace picked them up. When she saw the words at the top of the page, her pupils constricted violently.

Ethan looked down at her from his superior height.

“Our marriage was a farce to begin with. Now that Lilian is back, I’m going to give her the grand wedding I owe her.”

His voice, which had always captivated her, now felt like sharp icicles plunging into her heart, making it so painful she could barely breathe.

When she was born, her mother had hemorrhaged and died on the operating table. Her father considered her a jinx and, without so much as a glance, had her sent to her grandparents’ home in the countryside.

Later, her father remarried and had a precious daughter, Lilian Hart.

Five years ago, the Ward family went bankrupt. Ethan was critically ill, and Lilian, using her studies as an excuse, fled the country to escape the arranged marriage between their families.

Only then did they remember Grace, abandoned in the countryside.

As it happened, her bone marrow was a perfect match for Ethan's. She donated it, pulling him back from the brink of death.

During his hospital stay, a chandelier accidentally fell. Without hesitation, Grace threw herself over the still-recovering Ethan, breaking her leg in the process.

After they were discharged, she and Ethan were married.
