She glanced over at Wilson Walton, who was chatting and drinking with another girl in the distance, looking a bit confused. "I thought you were going to come with Wilson."
Betty followed her gaze, her smile dimming. "He's just making it clear to me that even if he couldn't win you over, he won't settle for me."
Emily didn't know what to say. "Maybe one day he'll suddenly realize how great you are."
Betty chuckled and shook her head. Despite her deep feelings, she seemed at peace. "Whatever happens, happens."
She looked at Emily with genuine sincerity. "Emily, I wish you all the happiness in the world. You deserve it!"
Emily gave a soft smile. "Thank you. And I hope you find your own happiness soon too!"
Betty reached out and pulled her into a gentle hug.

Kya ran up to Jonathan with a bunch of balloons in her hand. "Uncle Jonathan, I miss Max. When can I go to your house to play with him again?"
A rare look of tender patience softened Jonathan's face. He crossed his hands, leaned down, and asked, "You call Manley 'Daddy Manley'. What are you supposed to call me?"
Kya's bright, clever eyes darted around before she immediately chirped, "Daddy Jonathan!"
Jonathan laughed heartily. "Good girl!"
He pulled out his phone and called Millard. "Go to Villa del Sol and bring Max over."
Millard agreed immediately.
Kya jumped up and down, clapping her hands in excitement. "Thank you, Daddy Jonathan!"
Jonathan's eyes crinkled with amusement. "You're welcome!"
It didn't take long for Max to arrive. Initially thrilled for a car ride, the dog's joy turned to sheer terror the second he hopped out of the car and saw Kya charging toward him. His happy panting morphed into a look of panic as he spun around, desperately trying to jump back into the car to go home.
