Fated Marriage Spoiled by My Ice Billionaire novel Chapter 64

A good while later, she finally paused and asked, "He... still isn't back?"

No sooner had the words left her mouth than a plate with a sandwich was slid onto the counter in front of her.

A wave of warmth, carrying the faint, clean scent of sandalwood, washed over her.

"Who hasn't come back?" Damian's lips curved into a slight smile.

Just as Brian had said, she was missing him.

It seemed she did harbor a bit of a crush.

Isabelle turned her head and saw Damian leaning casually against the kitchen island beside her.

He was dressed in simple, dark loungewear, the black fabric emphasizing his tall, lean frame. His striking features were enough to make anyone's heart skip a beat.

He stood by the marble countertop, just half an arm's length away, his intense gaze fixed intently on her.

Her heart gave a nervous flutter. A tiny spark inside her seemed to catch, glowing warmer and warmer.

A blush crept from her earlobes all the way to her cheeks.

Her grip tightened on the glass she was holding.

A bad feeling settled in her stomach. "Did you bring me home last night?"

"Yes." He placed his palms flat on the marble, watching her with a serious expression.

"Did you... change my clothes?"

"Yes."

She felt too embarrassed to look directly at him, torn between wanting to flee and being rooted to the spot.

Biting her lip, she forced out the next question. "Did we..."

She trailed off, unable to finish.

"Are you asking if we had sex?"

The blush burned its way to the very roots of her hair.

He leaned in slowly, close to her ear, his voice dropping to a low, slightly rough murmur. "So, were you hoping we did, or hoping we didn't?" His warm breath brushed against her skin.

Isabelle reached out, pressing her hand over his mouth to stop the words and pushing him back gently. "I don't know..."

Oh no. Even the brief touch of his lips against her palm felt startlingly warm and intimate.

He chuckled softly, took her hand, and pressed a light kiss to its back. "Relax. I wouldn't take advantage of you like that."

A tingle shot from the back of her hand up her arm, and she quickly pulled it back. A flicker of disappointment surfaced, which she immediately tried to smother.

What made her even more self-conscious now was her outfit—a simple black silk camisole with a built-in shelf bra. The delicate fabric draped softly, hinting at the slender curves beneath.

He certainly knew how to pick sleepwear.

Even though it covered more than the dress from that night, it felt just as revealing under his gaze.

The look was soft, innocent, yet undeniably alluring—and it coordinated perfectly with his own black loungewear.

Damian caught her sideways glance and let out another soft laugh. He turned his attention away, giving her some space. "Susie took the week off. The fridge is looking pretty bare. We should go to the supermarket together later."

"Okay." She nibbled on her sandwich, managing to squeeze out that single, non-committal word.

Seeking an escape from the awkwardness, she picked up her phone, pretending to be engrossed. A message from Brian, sent late last night, caught her eye.

"Calling Mr. Cross to rip him a new one—you're the first."

Help... What kind of help can I possibly offer? She didn't come from a powerful family with connections.
