"Don't you think you should move your leg?" he said.
The words hit her, and Isabelle immediately rolled away from him and buried her head deep under the covers.
So he'd been waiting for her to move the whole time! The whole thing made it seem like she was the one who wanted to cuddle with him!
A quiet sigh escaped him, and he carefully lifted the blanket before tucking it back around her to cover the exposed space behind her.
After that, she heard him leave the room, followed by the sound of running water in the bathroom.
Isabelle had no idea what he was doing in there, but it took nearly half an hour before he came back out.

Damian went downstairs first, and only then did Isabelle slowly get up to wash up.
When she made it down to the living room, voices drifted toward her from below.
She looked closer and froze. It was Regina!
At first, she thought her eyes were playing tricks on her, but as she got closer, there was no mistaking it. Damian was sitting on the couch chatting with Regina.
"Ms. Baxter?"
The words came out as she stood beside the couch.
Damian's gaze shifted from Regina to Isabelle.
Loose casual pants and a fitted t-shirt showed off her figure perfectly.
"Oh, Isabelle!" Regina jumped up immediately and came over to wrap Isabelle in a big hug.
"What are you doing here?" Isabelle returned the embrace, and the two of them pulled apart pretty quickly with an unspoken understanding.
Damian rose to his feet slowly. "She's my mom. You can just call her name."
Isabelle stood there for a long moment, looking between the two of them. Now that she thought about it, there was definitely a resemblance.
"Regina?"
"Yes, dear!" Regina smiled.
Isabelle shot an awkward glance at Damian, and his lips curved into a small smile.
What were the odds of something like this happening?
Regina took Isabelle's hand and spoke with deep meaning in her voice.
"I never would have guessed it would be you! Dami isn't much of a talker, but he's very considerate. He's never given us any trouble since he was little, and with someone as cheerful as you around, I know he'll be happy."
The praise just kept coming...
The whole situation felt like some kind of arranged meeting between families.
Isabelle's heart felt like it was strapped into a rollercoaster, hanging suspended in the air. This was wild!
The three of them talked for quite a while.
They wanted Regina to stay for lunch, but Regina politely declined.
After seeing Regina off, Damian and Isabelle sat down together at the table next to the open kitchen for breakfast.
