Fated Marriage Spoiled by My Ice Billionaire novel Chapter 117

He stood with his hands in his pockets, first glancing at the chuckling Theodore, then at the fuming Isabelle.

Isabelle continued, "What? Nothing to say? You're a grown man. Even if someone did something wrong, you can't just manhandle them. Think you're a big shot with your entourage? Threatening to shut down the shop? Why don't you just fly to the moon?"

"Hey, easy there, that's—" Brian tried to interject from the side, giving her a meaningful look.

"Whose side are you on? I was counting on you to back me up in a fight!" Isabelle shot Brian a glare.

"Young lady, you've got quite the temper," the man said, his voice noticeably softer now.

Isabelle's fiery demeanor cooled a little, but she was still indignant. "That depends on who I'm dealing with! What kind of man bullies an elderly person?"

Brian tried to speak again, but the man shot him a look, and Brian immediately fell silent.

"You're right. I wasn't thinking clearly," the man conceded, lowering his stance.

Seeing him back down, Isabelle couldn't keep pushing. "Then apologize."

The man's eyes darkened slightly.

Brian facepalmed and subtly took half a step to the side. He'd tried his best; his earlier hint couldn't have been clearer.

The man gave a slight nod and turned to Theodore. "I'm sorry, Dad."

Isabelle was completely stunned. Crap, I messed up. This is so embarrassing.

Diana stared, wide-eyed. Theodore, however, was beaming.

Isabelle froze, her mouth slightly agape before she quickly pressed her lips together. She looked at Brian.

Brian had already retreated to the side, not daring to meet her eyes.

Isabelle swallowed hard. God, how do I get out of this one?

Great, first impressions are permanent. How are we supposed to get along after this?

Mission failed before it even began.

Steeling herself, she mumbled, "Louis..."

The man nodded meaningfully. "Mm."

Louis Cross, Damian's father, of course, recognized Isabelle. When Damian had sent the marriage certificate photo to the family group chat, he'd studied it for a good while.

She looked gentle and refined. He hadn't expected her to be so fierce. He liked that.

Louis had come today to take Theodore for a medical check-up. Theodore had been refusing to go.

The reason was that some issues had shown up in a recent physical, and the family had been urging him to get a recheck for days, but he kept putting it off. Louis had no choice but to come to the courtyard to drag him out.

Isabelle, Brian, and Diana sat in a row, looking like misbehaving children awaiting judgment. Theodore, sitting to the side, didn't dare say a word either.

Louis sat with his arms crossed, one leg over the other, looking down on them all like a judge presiding over a group of offenders.

Bonita finished serving coffee and hurriedly fled the scene.

Louis didn't address the three young people. Instead, he turned to Theodore. "Check-up tomorrow. Going or not?"

Theodore grinned and nodded. "Going."

"The kids are all here as witnesses. If you go back on your word, you're setting a terrible example," Louis said.

All my careful persuasion over the past few days, and it took just a couple of sharp words from this girl to get through to him.

Clod? Is he talking about Damian? Well, it's a fitting description.
