In an instant, a suffocating wave of dread washed over Bella Ward. She only knew one thing: she was absolutely doomed!
All her hard work and careful scheming were about to go down the drain. She had never imagined she would meet her downfall right here.
Just as her mind was spinning with panic, a call came in from Julian Ross, Sebastian Blake's secretary.
Even though Julian had mentally rehearsed the conversation multiple times, what he actually said was incredibly brief.
"Ms. Ward," Julian said, his tone strictly professional. "Mr. Blake requested that you prepare to sign the divorce papers. The legal team will draft The Blake Divorce Settlement shortly. He also mentioned that you can name your terms for settling the wedding venue balance or any other reasonable requests."
After delivering the message, Julian braced himself for Bella's reaction.
Predictably, the news sent Bella into an absolute frenzy. "What did you just say? Divorce? Sebastian wants to divorce me? Is he out of his mind? Even if we were only married for a day, I'm entitled to half of his estate! Has he even considered the consequences?"
When Bella mentioned claiming half the estate, a pang of guilt actually hit Julian. The thing was...
Right. Bella was completely oblivious to the existence of The Blake Pre-Nuptial Agreement. She hadn't paid attention at the time and had blindly signed it.
Now that they were divorcing, there wasn't going to be any "half of the estate." Sebastian wasn't going to give her a single dime more than necessary.
Julian faked a cough to mask his awkwardness, hastily ended the call, and handed the phone back to Sebastian.
"Mr. Blake, judging by Miss Ward's reaction, she has no intention of agreeing to a divorce. Without her signature, the legal team's hands are tied. I'm afraid this could drag on for quite some time..."
Sebastian's expression darkened at the news. "She doesn't want a divorce? She's dreaming. Does she really think she has the power to go up against my legal team?"
Julian took a deep breath, offering a cautious reminder. "Boss, if you force the divorce now, what about the company's projects? Might Miss Ward..."
