Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 800

Debbie was just about to head out to the casino. Bella had been calling her non-stop for the past two days, and Debbie had no intention of staying in the hotel just waiting to be ambushed.

When it came to money, Bella was getting anxious, constantly pressuring her to pay back what she owed.

If she actually had the cash, would she really be wasting her time dodging the woman?

She took a step toward the lobby, but froze. A familiar figure was walking straight toward her.

Panic hit her like a freight train. For a split second, her mind went completely blank, her feet rooted to the floor.

Snapping back to reality, she grabbed Lucas by the arm and yanked him backward. "Run," she hissed.

Without waiting for a response, she dragged the young man toward the stairwell.

How could she not recognize the man walking through the lobby? She had given birth to him and raised him, after all.

If they ran into each other now, her carefree days were officially over.

She knew Sebastian better than anyone. There was no way he would let her stay in Northwyn. It didn't matter how much she loved the city's nightlife—he would pack her up and ship her out immediately.

Worse yet, if the Blake family found out she had sneaked into Northwyn, her life would become a living hell.

Her endless allowance would definitely be cut off.

And she absolutely couldn't survive without her money.

At the thought of losing her funds, Debbie practically sprinted into the stairwell, terrified Sebastian would spot her.

Once they were safely behind the heavy fire doors, she carefully peeked through the glass to check the lobby.

Sure enough, Sebastian was standing by the elevator banks.

"What are you looking at?" Lucas asked, breathless. "Why are we running?"

Completely confused by the sudden marathon, he stretched his neck, trying to see what had spooked her so badly.

Just recently, she had racked up millions of dollars in debt at the casino and hadn't even batted an eye. What could possibly terrify a woman with bottomless pockets?

Before he could get a good look, Debbie shoved his head back down. "Shh! Keep your voice down!"

They were too close to the lobby. If sound carried and her son heard them, it was game over. She couldn't risk blowing her cover.

Since his sugar mama had spoken, Lucas wisely clamped his mouth shut.

The elevator doors chimed open. Sebastian stepped inside with his secretary, his long legs crossing the threshold.
