Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 729

Sabrina let out a heavy sigh. "Work? No, they didn't even cross paths. I thought it was foolproof, but my timing must have been slightly off. Your future mother-in-law went to the restroom at the exact wrong moment, and she missed him entirely.

"But speaking of today, I am absolutely furious. That Old Mr. Blake is incredibly disrespectful.

"Right there in a public venue, he had the nerve to call me a woman of low character. I am the one who carries the Mercer name now!

"And considering we're about to be in-laws, for him to speak like that... it wasn't just a slap in my face.

"Bella, why don't you have Sebastian say something to him?"

Bella didn't even have time to analyze the convenient coincidence of Debbie missing Old Mr. Blake. Her mind instantly snagged on her mother's complaint.

"Mom, do you honestly think Sebastian is going to scold his own father? Look, forget it, I get it. I originally thought we could get this done today, let them reconnect for a bit, and then force their hand.

"Even if she just whispered the right words in his ear, it would've helped. But the chance is gone.

"Whatever. We'll try again tomorrow, or the day after, or the day after that. Just stake out the places he frequents every single day. You're bound to strike gold eventually."

Sabrina murmured her agreement. "Don't worry, leave it to me. We're talking about a massive nine-figure settlement here. If that kind of money lands in our hands, we'll never have to worry for the rest of our lives."

"Just stay focused," Bella replied. "I have a mountain of work to get through, so I've got to let you go."

She really couldn't afford to slack off on company business.

Otherwise, things would get very complicated very fast.

Sebastian seemed to constantly monitor her performance. The slightest mistake, and he would instantly turn cold and interrogate her.

Bella refused to give the people at the company another reason to mock her, so she had to double down and catch up on her tasks.

On the other side of town, Lillian was genuinely pouring her heart and soul into her work.

Because of her health, and the nagging of the people who cared about her, her working hours had been drastically curtailed over and over again.
