Leonard came over and glanced at the list as well.
Lillian had only come across one item at the auction that night, which meant there were likely other things that had already been sold off.
Besides what was sold, there was probably a portion still in Brandon’s possession.
The items Brandon still had would be easier to handle; they could likely be recovered.
The real trouble was the items that had already been sold. Investigating where they went would be time-consuming and labor-intensive.
Leonard always hoped to spare Lillian from as much stress as possible.
“Let’s not rush. First, let’s confirm which items are in Brandon’s hands and which are already gone.”
Although Lillian was anxious and angry, she was still thinking rationally. That was the most important thing to figure out right now, so she knew she couldn’t rush things.
Leonard nodded. “Alright. If you need me, just tell me.”
Lillian dialed Brandon’s number once more.
What she didn’t know was that during the time she’d been confirming the list, Brandon had been pacing anxiously in his office, phone in hand.
No one else knew about this besides him and the person at the Lancaster estate who had helped him.
He hadn't even told Colin. He had considered what might happen if the truth came out, but he’d ultimately dismissed the risk.
At the end of the day, the Lancaster estate was his grandparents’ home.
With his grandparents gone, wasn’t it his home too?
If caught, he figured he could just say they were his family’s things. It wouldn’t be a big deal.
Could they really charge him with theft and send him to prison?
Although the Lancasters weren’t as close to him as they were to Lillian, they wouldn’t just stand by and watch him get locked up, would they?
However, Lillian’s recent threat had genuinely scared him.
