The same day Brandon and Martin had their fight, he moved out of the Mercer family mansion.
He was storming home, face dark with anger, to pack his clothes and toiletries when he saw Sabrina sitting in the living room, eating fruit and scrolling through videos on her tablet.
Seeing him, Sabrina greeted him as she normally would. "Brandon, you're back. Home from work early today."
Brandon certainly heard her, but he didn't even turn his head as he continued up the stairs.
Sabrina’s gaze followed him up. "What's wrong with him? Is something on his mind? He didn't even hear me say hello."
A maid peeling fruit beside her chimed in, "The young master doesn't look very happy."
Sabrina frowned at the comment, put down her fruit, and went to wash her hands.
"I'll go check on him."
This family, she thought, would fall apart without her.
It felt like they hadn't had more than two peaceful days in a row. What could have possibly happened to put the young master in such a foul mood this time?
Sabrina went upstairs just as Brandon was coming out of his room with a duffel bag, having quickly packed a change of clothes and his toiletries.
They met right on the landing.
"Oh, Brandon, are you going on a business trip?" Sabrina asked. "You should have told me earlier, I could have packed for you so you could just grab your bag and go. What if you forget something? It'll be so inconvenient for you."
"Not necessary," Brandon said curtly, then brushed past her and hurried away.
Sabrina was left standing there, stunned. The Mercer children, no matter how busy, had never treated her like this.
It was downright rude.
"What in the world is going on today? Is there some crisis at the company that has him in such a rush?"
The maid also found Brandon's behavior strange. He was usually very pleasant to Sabrina, almost always greeting her with a smile.
It was rare to see him so expressionless, his words so cold.
"Perhaps you should call the master and ask? Ma'am, look, it's still early, not even quitting time. In the past, even if the young master was going on a business trip, he'd call ahead and have us pack for him."
"Exactly," Sabrina said. "What happened today? He seemed like he was on a really short fuse."
With that, Sabrina took out her phone and called Martin to find out what was going on.
Martin knew that after the argument, his two sons had gone to find a lawyer.
