Victor’s phone rang. He looked down and saw Lillian’s name on the screen.
He was about to decline the call when Brandon somehow spotted it. He snatched the phone from Victor’s hand and answered.
“Lillian! Lillian, you’re at the company, right? I’m here too! Come out and see me, please? I really need to talk to you about something important. We’re brother and sister; you can’t just ignore me. Lillian, please come out, okay?”
Lillian had called Victor, so when she heard Brandon’s voice, she thought she was still half-asleep and had dialed the wrong number. She pulled the phone away from her ear to check the screen.
“No, that’s right. I called Victor.”
Brandon heard her on the other end. “Lillian, I’m right here at your company! Just come out and see me.”
“What are you doing at my company?” Lillian’s voice was sharp. “Brandon, are you even my brother? Did we come from the same mother? Why are you doing this to me? I can hear a lot of noise in the background. What’s going on? Why do you have Victor’s phone?”
Victor wasn’t about to let Brandon keep his phone. He grabbed it back.
“Hello, Ms. Mercer? When are you coming back? It’s chaos here. What should I do?”
“I just got back,” Lillian said calmly. “Alright, give the phone to Brandon. I’ll talk to him.”
She had seen some messages while she was away and knew what was happening, which was why she’d decided to come back early. Otherwise, she would have stayed to recuperate at the lab and Leonard's villa until next week.
Victor reluctantly handed the phone back to Brandon. “Ms. Mercer wants to talk to you.”
A relieved smile finally appeared on Brandon’s face. But before he could even speak, he was met with Lillian’s threatening tone. “Brandon, you have two minutes to leave my company. If you don’t, you will never get to discuss what you want to discuss. I don’t have time to waste on you right now. One hour from now, coffee shop downstairs from the Mercer Group building. I expect you to be there on time.”
Lillian hung up without waiting for a reply.
She had planned to rest at home, but Brandon’s antics at her office forced her hand. She didn’t want him disrupting her employees, so she agreed to meet him.
