Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 201

“I feel pretty good, actually. There’s still work to be done at the company, so I was thinking of heading back,” Lillian said. “But it’s really all thanks to you, Doctor. You’re amazing.”

The doctor shook his head. “Thanks are nice, but what I really need is for you to follow my instructions. The lab went to great lengths to save you. If something happens to you now, all our efforts would be wasted. And it’s not just our efforts we’re talking about—it’s someone’s very lifeblood.”

Lillian’s ears perked up at that last phrase. She knew he meant it literally.

“Was it Leonard’s blood? Was it... drawn recently? Does my condition require a lot of his blood? I saw him a couple of days ago and he looked awful. This constant blood donation won’t affect his health, will it?”

Lillian was genuinely worried. Leonard’s well-being was something she cared deeply about.

She fired off a volley of questions, and the doctor opened his mouth to reply, only to be cut off by a sharp cough from Ethan.

“Ahem... Ms. Mercer, it’s not as complicated as you think,” Ethan interjected smoothly. “Our boss takes very good care of himself. He wouldn’t do anything to harm his own health, not even to save you. Please, don’t worry. He knows his limits and is in complete control of his physical condition. Nothing will happen to him.”

The doctor shot Ethan a glare but said nothing more.

What Ethan said was true.
