Leonard seemed to be lost in thought, and Lillian didn't press the issue.
There really wasn't much more to say about her marriage to Sebastian.
On Friday evening, Lillian went downstairs right on time. Ethan's car was already waiting.
"Ms. Mercer, the house staff has packed your bags. They're already on the plane.
As for your grandmother and mother, the young master has arranged for someone to keep an eye on them, so you can travel with peace of mind."
"Where are we headed now?" Lillian asked.
"To the airfield. The young master and your luggage are waiting there."
It was a relief not to have to worry about the details. She could just go.
Lillian, carrying just her laptop, left work and headed straight for the plane.
Meanwhile, Sebastian had gone home early to pick up Noah, and together with Bella, they headed to the airport.
Noah didn't know he was going abroad for medical treatment; Bella had told him it was a vacation, and he was thrilled.
"Auntie Bella, it's been so long since we went on a trip together!"
"Bella is a busy woman," Sebastian said. "She doesn't have time to take you out."
"Work has been busy," Bella admitted, "but I must confess, I've been neglecting our dear Noah lately. Don't worry, Noah, from now on, I will make more time to play with you, okay?"
"Okay! Auntie Bella, I love playing with you the most!"
In Noah's eyes, Auntie Bella was so much better than his own mother. She let him eat all sorts of things his mom never allowed and took him to do fun things.
It was nothing like when his mom was around.
Noah had made his comparison. His mom was always restricting him, saying no to this and that. She was no fun.
Bella knew exactly what she was doing. Noah was at that mischievous age where granting him these small wishes would win his affection.
And sure enough, not long after Sebastian introduced them, she had Noah wrapped around her little finger.
He was just a child, after all. Manipulating him was incredibly easy.
Sebastian was happy to see it.
In his eyes, Lillian was becoming more and more useless, while Bella was not only a capable professional at the company but also a great help in caring for his son. He couldn't have been more pleased.
The three of them, looking like a picture-perfect family, went through security and boarded the plane, settling into first class. Noah fell asleep shortly after.
Only then did Bella ask, "Didn't Lillian say she was leaving at this time? How come I don't see her? She wouldn't be flying economy, would she?"
"Who knows," Sebastian replied. "Don't worry about her. Let's just focus on ourselves."
His indifference was all she needed to hear. As long as Sebastian didn't care about Lillian, it meant they were truly almost over.
Bella was eagerly awaiting the day Noah's issue was resolved so Sebastian would no longer need a second child with Lillian.
If they had another baby, her position would be incredibly awkward.
Not only awkward, but the child would become a constant source of tension between her and Sebastian.
