Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 157

The scene descended into chaos. Sabrina had thought she had won, which was why she had gone to such lengths to have Lillian witness her success. Who knew Lillian would pull a stunt like this?

This Lillian was truly a tough nut to crack—stubborn and unyielding, just like her two brothers.

The wedding was halted. Martin rushed his wife back to their room, pinching her nose and even attempting mouth-to-mouth, smudging her beautiful bridal makeup. Sabrina eventually came to, but immediately burst into tears in Martin's arms.

"I can't go on, I don't want to live! I thought inviting Lillian to our wedding would bring the family together, that it would add to the celebration. I never imagined she hated me this much!"

Sabrina sobbed, snot and tears streaming down her face, no longer caring about her ruined makeup.

According to the schedule, the guests outside should have been starting the reception feast by now. But with the wedding paused, everyone was left waiting.

Naturally, the whispers started. Although Sabrina hadn't worked the nightlife circuit in years, the old matriarch's agreement had used such harsh language to describe her. Combined with what some people already knew of her past, the gossip grew louder.

Lillian had no interest in seeing the mess unfolding in the other room.

She tugged on Victor's sleeve and led him straight to the seats reserved for her at the head table to start eating.

As Bella passed her on the way to check on Sabrina, she shot Lillian a venomous glare and muttered, "Lillian, I won't forget what you did today."

Lillian calmly replied, "Not calling me 'sister' anymore? They're legally married now. Go on, say it. It's official."

Bella just glared at her fiercely before hurrying away.

Brandon and Colin also got up. They were family, after all; it would look bad if they didn't go check on the situation.

However, Brandon gave Lillian a meaningful look. His shareholdings had just increased substantially; he really ought to thank his sister.

But this wasn't the time or place. If he thanked her now, the implications would be disastrous.

He settled for another significant glance before rushing inside to see how Sabrina was doing.

Ultimately, only Sebastian was left at the head table.

He hadn't brought Noah, and Lillian had been so busy lately that she hadn't thought about her son for some time.

She remembered how, in prison, she had missed him so much she cried herself to sleep every night.

But now that she was out, her heart had hardened, and oddly enough, she didn't feel the ache as much.

Sebastian had assumed that if Lillian came to the head table, she would at least say hello to him.

Instead, Lillian simply grabbed some utensils, handed them to Victor, and said, "Let's ignore them. This food looks good, probably cost a fortune. It would be a waste not to eat. We should eat up. We'll need our strength to keep fighting."

She knew this wasn't over yet.

The old couple had waited half a lifetime for this wedding. These two shameless individuals had invited all of high society and their company employees to witness their union, even setting up extra space outside the villa for guests.
