"Just now?" Noticing Coralie's rabbit-red eyes, Juniper couldn't resist the urge to tease her. "What did I say?"
"When you walked in..." Coralie shifted nervously on her feet, her voice frantic but delicate. "You called me..."
She was too afraid to say the word "sister," terrified that Juniper might reject her.
"I heard Shanley kidnapped you," Juniper said, her tone cool and collected. "It was a massive misunderstanding, and I apologize on his behalf."
"Oh?" Coralie blinked rapidly, her long lashes fluttering as guilt flashed across her face. Was Juniper being so distant because of Shanley?
Coralie didn't want to let him off the hook so easily, but if her sister loved him... she could swallow her pride.
"It's fine," Coralie forced a bitter smile. "I forgive him."
Since she forgave him, Juniper wouldn't be mad at her anymore, right?
"I appreciate that," Juniper said slowly. "But..."
"But what?" Coralie's heart leaped into her throat.
"You might have forgiven him, but I haven't." Juniper stepped forward, gently taking Coralie's cold hands in hers. "Who told him he could bully my sister?"
"S-Sister?" Hearing the word again, Coralie's eyes brimmed with fresh tears. Her excitement was impossible to contain. "Juniper, did you just call me your sister?"
"I did," Juniper whispered, her own eyes growing misty. "Well? Aren't you going to hug me?"
"Of course I am!" Coralie burst into tears, throwing her arms around Juniper and holding her tight. "I'm never cursing the heavens again! I'm going to get down on my knees and thank God for bringing you back to me!"
Juniper nearly laughed through her tears. "It's not just me. You have a lot more family waiting for you."
