"Naturally." Juniper raised an eyebrow, took two steps forward, and stared at Theia with interest. "I have the utmost admiration for a heroine like you, Dr. Sommers."
It was the first time the two of them had stood this close in plain sight.
Juniper could even smell the faint, elegant scent on her.
The scent of her mother.
"It's a shame, though." Theia lowered her eyes, her gaze fixed on her daughter's face. Her heart was melting, but her tone was incredibly sharp. "I find certain scumbags who trample on human morality absolutely sickening."
She said 'certain,' but she was entirely referring to Corvus.
Even when cursing someone indirectly, she couldn't bear to say a single harsh word against her daughter.
"Boss Thorne." Juniper played along, deliberately looking at Corvus and speaking unhurriedly. "Dr. Sommers is calling you a scumbag."
Corvus's face instantly went cold, turning a terrifying shade of ashen grey.
He didn't dare scold Specter because he still needed her help.
And he certainly didn't dare scold Theia.
Dr. Sommers blinked, the corners of her mouth twitching into a secret smile when no one was looking.
Her baby's mouth was as sweet as honey.
"Boss, it's finished."
Just as the anger built up in Corvus's chest with nowhere to go, a subordinate suddenly spoke up.
"Boss, this genetic hurdle has indeed been overcome."
The supervisor pushed up his glasses, speaking excitedly. "This data, integrated with the data Dr. Sommers provided..."
"The genetic modification research plan has taken a massive step forward."
"Excellent." Corvus's lips curved upward into a satisfied smile. "Theia, with these two hands, I will build an empire for you."
"Keep it." Theia's lips curled into a cold, mocking sneer. "Anything those hands have touched disgusts me."
