Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1092

Shanley draped a wool trench coat over her shoulders. After a long moment of silence, his voice dropped low. "Give me a disguise, too. I'll go with you."

"Not necessary."

Juniper tied the belt of her coat and stepped closer to him, casually playing with the buttons of his shirt. "Mr. Schwartz, I'm not even scared of you. Why would I be afraid of some old man?"

"Aren't you a tough one?"

Shanley pressed his lips together, his thumb lightly brushing her jawline. "Fine. You'll be right downstairs anyway. Call me the second anything feels off."

"Yeah." Juniper looked up at him, her lips curving. "Once I sort out all this mess and find my parents, I'm fully checking out of the hustle. I'm going to embrace the lazy life."

"And abandon Subterra Vanguard?" Shanley asked, guiding her toward the door.

"Isn't that what I have you for?" Juniper slowed her pace, smiling breezily. "Didn't you say you were going to work for me?"

"Yeah." Shanley froze for a second before a teasing smirk spread across his face. "I'll work for you for the rest of my life."

Leaving the Cloudscape Community, Juniper took a few detours before arriving at a crowded downtown area. She hailed a cab.

Half an hour later, the taxi pulled up outside the cafe right next to the Schwartz Group headquarters.

It was ten minutes to the hour.

She found a quiet corner table, sat down comfortably, and grabbed the iPad to order.

A milkshake, some juice, and a few pastries. She ordered a feast.

Setting the iPad aside, she pulled out her phone and sent a photo to Luella.

Note attached: *Where are the Sanctum Holdings guys?*

Luella took a screenshot of the chat and forwarded it to Sanctum Holdings' contact.

Specter: *Time's up. If I don't see anyone, I'm walking.*

Message sent.

Juniper tossed her phone onto the table, picked up a piece of silverware, and took a leisurely bite of her cake.

Ugh. Disgusting.
