Juniper casually swept her gaze over the breathless crowd, noting a glaring absence. Sheryl was nowhere to be found.
That didn't make sense. There was no way a mastermind like her could resist coming out to watch her own grand finale.
A second later, the door to an adjacent room cracked open. Sheryl stepped out, rubbing her eyes as if she had just woken up. "What's going on? Why is it so loud out here?"
The guests exchanged loaded glances. They were all seasoned socialites; no one was foolish enough to open their mouths and risk getting caught in the crossfire.
"Juniper? What are you doing here?" Sheryl let her eyes land on her, feigning perfectly orchestrated shock. She had originally planned to text Juniper the scandalous video, but seeing her here in person? Watching her discover her fiancé in bed with another woman live and in color? That was infinitely better.
"Oh, you know." Juniper slipped her hands into her pockets, her posture relaxed and a lazy smile tugging at her lips. "Just here to catch a cheater."
Hushed gasps rippled through the crowd. She actually said it out loud. It seemed Mr. Schwartz's pristine reputation was about to be dragged through the mud tonight. Everyone wondered if Ms. Payne would actually stay with him after this.
"Catch a cheater?" Sheryl's eyes widened in mock horror, though she was practically biting her cheek to stop herself from grinning. "Are you saying... Shanley is in there?"
"Uh-huh." Juniper raised an eyebrow, effortlessly playing along.
The guests threw Sheryl disgusted looks. Was this what high society called a refined lady? To have such a chillingly two-faced nature? With acting skills like that, she should have skipped medical school and gone straight to Hollywood.
"Could it be a misunderstanding?" Sheryl pitched her voice loud enough for the whole hallway to hear, desperately shooting signals at the reporters.
"Why don't you all go inside and see for yourselves?" Juniper offered a faint, chilling smile, gesturing toward the cameramen.
Without hesitation, a reporter shoved the bedroom door open.
Sheryl was the first one through the threshold, absolutely refusing to miss a single second of Juniper's humiliation. Juniper strolled in right after her, while the terrified but curious guests carefully trailed behind. It wasn't every day they got to bust Eclara City's reigning king of power in a compromising position. It was terrifying, yet undeniably thrilling.
