If Mason hadn't spoken up, the rest of the room might have forgotten he was even there. It was public knowledge that the Reed Group was currently ruled by a ruthless executive named Titus Reed. Mason was merely the VP and Titus's right-hand man.
Yet, whether it was the summit in Lumiere City or this high-stakes negotiation with Maeve, the Reed family had sent Mason as their proxy. Titus's consecutive absences made the others seriously question if the legendary CEO even existed.
Andres's mind was racing the fastest. Back in Lumiere City, he had personally witnessed Mason and Maeve casually chatting. Yet here in Aethelburg, they were acting like total strangers. Was there a hidden history between them that he knew nothing about?
After Mason pledged the Reed Group's loyalty, Leonardo immediately followed suit, unconditionally aligning himself with Maeve.
Slade was a natural adrenaline junkie; as long as billions were on the table, he didn't care who he had to crush. "A game this twisted? Count me in." How deep the Grover family's political waters ran was none of his damn business.
But there was one detail Slade couldn't quite grasp. "Andres, how does the White Family stack up against the Grovers in Aethelburg?"
It was an incredibly sensitive topic.
"We've never directly tested those waters," Andres replied smoothly.
On the surface, the Whites appeared slightly less influential. In reality? They were dead even. Andres commanded terrifying underworld resources that he had no intention of exposing to the public.
Slade was never one to bite his tongue. "Since you and Maeve are together, why don't you just devour this entire pie yourself?"
That wasn't Andres's usual style at all.
This was exactly why Jasper despised Slade. "Have you never heard that the nail that sticks out gets hammered down?" It was a shame Slade had such a stunning face; underneath it, he was nothing but a muscle-brained savage.
