Nolan Nichols turned pale at the sudden mention of his name.
He hadn't fully recovered from the shock of seeing his bitter rival, Andres White, sitting at the head of the table.
The fact that Andres was hosting The Skyward Summit meant he had the absolute trust of the authorities.
This was an opportunity countless elites could only dream of, and somehow, Andres had snagged it.
Noticing the questioning, scrutinizing, and mocking gazes sweeping toward him from across the room, Nolan stubbornly jutted his chin. "Why should I leave?"
Leonardo Salazar shook the roster in his hand. "I've reviewed this list three times from top to bottom, and Mr. Nichols's name isn't on it."
Benjamin Bright wasn't about to miss a golden opportunity to kick a man while he was down. "What's going on, Nolan? Cosmos Corporation is a massive entity with landmark skyscrapers in Gotham."
"You've got a formidable background and staggering wealth, yet your name got scrubbed from Project Skyward."
"If word gets out, won't Cosmos Group's reputation be dragged through the mud?"
Nolan shot Benjamin a vicious glare before turning his fire back to Andres. "Mr. White, there's no need to elevate our personal grudge to this level, is there?"
"I may have offended you verbally, but if you're holding a grudge, just curse me out."
"Using your position as head of Project Skyward for a personal vendetta is a bit beneath you."
He slammed his hand on the table. "I refuse to accept this expulsion."
Andres let out a dry laugh at Nolan's arrogant display. "You think I crossed your name off the list?"
Nolan glared at him. "Didn't you?"
"I'm merely relaying the official decision," Andres said smoothly. "If your name isn't on here, it means Cosmos Corporation failed the official evaluation."
Joining Project Skyward was a massive gamble for everyone involved.
