Eileen's leave request came through that very evening.
The next morning, at dawn.
Even on a summer morning, there was a rare hint of coolness in the air.
Commander Dirk personally escorted Eileen out of the school gates.
As a student about to take exams, she wasn’t allowed to leave the school during the exam period. Without Commander Dirk, she might have been mistaken for a runaway student by the gate guards and chased by their dogs.
Eileen felt a bit embarrassed. As soon as she stepped out, she spotted Ophelia waiting by the roadside. “My agent is already here, Commander Dirk. I can manage from here,” she called out.
Commander Dirk, with a frosty expression, replied, “Perfect. I have a few words for your agent.”
Eileen's heart sank, and she asked fearfully, “You're not going to report me, are you?”
Commander Dirk let out a dry laugh, “What do you think?”
Oh no, oh no, oh no!
Panic surged through Eileen.
Commander Dirk, with a hint of menace, simply said, “Let’s go.”
Eileen bit her lip, following him cautiously.
Commander Dirk walked beside her, finally glancing at Ophelia, Eileen’s agent, by the roadside.
Ophelia was dressed in a crisp white suit, her shoulder-length black hair loose. She was on the phone, one hand with perfectly manicured red nails resting on the car roof, the other holding her phone, speaking to someone on the line.
As they approached, Ophelia noticed them and smiled, finishing her call quickly. She walked over to them.
Commander Dirk paused for a moment.
Eileen, realizing Commander Dirk had stopped, turned nervously to look at him.
Ophelia reached them and first gave Eileen a quick once-over, ensuring her prized asset was intact and ready for the spotlight.
Relieved, she turned to Commander Dirk, extending her hand politely, “Hello, I’m Ophelia, Eileen’s agent. You must be Eileen’s teacher. Thank you for everything.”
Commander Dirk seemed a bit thrown off. He stared at her hand for a moment, hesitating, but then shook it briefly before pulling his hand back into his pocket, his gaze a bit unsteady. “…Hi.”
Ophelia, ever the charmer, smiled and asked, “Eileen hasn’t been too much trouble, has she?”
Trouble?
Commander Dirk glanced at Eileen, who had somehow snuck behind Ophelia, desperately signaling for help, her eyes wide with silent pleas.
Coolly, he replied, “She’s…”
Disrespectful, rebellious, a rulebreaker, a troublemaker, a prankster. If I were to list her offenses, it’d be a mile long!
“…been great.”
Not a single one of the complaints he’d rehearsed all night came out.
Commander Dirk exhaled, turning back to Ophelia, “Among all the students, she’s the most promising.”
Ophelia was genuinely surprised, “Really?”
Eileen was taken aback too.
What???
She stared at Commander Dirk in shock, almost convinced that Olivia’s mind-control lessons had finally worked!
She’d wished for Commander Dirk not to report her, and not only did he comply, he even threw in a compliment!
Was the sun rising in the west?
No, there must be a catch!
Detective Eileen scrutinized Commander Dirk’s expression and suddenly noticed something.
Commander Dirk was smiling.
!!!
He was smiling at Ophelia!
!!!!!!
Eileen watched Ophelia's nonstop chatter with a mixture of amusement and curiosity before hesitating and asking, "Ophelia, do you have a boyfriend?"
Ophelia paused mid-sentence, throwing Eileen a sharp glance.
Eileen grinned mischievously, looking as sly as a fox. "Do you?"
Ophelia frowned, "You heard about my breakup too?"
Eileen blinked in surprise.
Ophelia grit her teeth, "Stop prying into things that aren't your business! Just focus on your work! I'm telling you, even if you do get into that academy, you still owe the company two more films. I don't care if you work during summer or winter breaks, you need to fulfill your contract! Otherwise, just wait and see if the company won't take legal action!"
Eileen pouted, drawing out her words, "…Got it, no need to be so harsh."
Before long, they reached the airport.
After a long transatlantic flight, Eileen finally landed at L.A. International Airport at 8 a.m. local time.
To greet Eileen were Janice and some staff members from the Eyes on the Rendezvous crew.
Having slept through most of the flight, Eileen felt surprisingly refreshed.
As they made their way to the parking lot, one of the staff members explained, "Ms. Lopez, I apologize, but we need to head straight to the venue. We're on a tight schedule, and the opening ceremony starts at ten. You'll also need to walk the red carpet, and your gown is ready in the car."
Eileen nodded, indicating she understood.
They soon reached the parking area, where two large SUVs were parked near the entrance. The staff would ride in the second vehicle, while Eileen was to take the front one, where she could change into her dress.
Eileen approached the front car and had just opened the door when suddenly, a large man's hand shot out!
Before she could react, she was pulled into the car!
Inside the tight confines of the SUV, Egbert pinned the travel-weary girl against the door. His hand cushioned the back of her head while his left hand gently lifted her chin.
In the next moment, a warm kiss descended upon her lips.
