It was a hectic scene in the ER.
The principal and vice principal had just rushed in from outside. As soon as they arrived, they hurriedly asked, "How's it going? Is everyone alright? We heard that Commander Dirk was coughing up blood!"
A few of the instructors standing by quickly stepped forward. "No, no, it wasn't blood from his lungs. He just got a couple of teeth knocked out, so it was more like tooth blood than anything else."
The vice principal paused for a moment, still not convinced that losing two teeth was any less severe than coughing up blood.
"And what about the principal?" he asked.
"He's awake and has been moved to a room," one of the instructors replied. "We'll take you up to see him."
As they started to leave, the vice principal suddenly stopped in his tracks when he passed by a nearby bench. There, huddled in the corner, was a girl, trembling like a leaf.
"Eileen?" he asked.
At the sound of her name, Eileen sprang to her feet, attempting to appear composed as she saluted. "S-sir!"
The principal frowned, looking severe. "Was it you who injured the principal and Commander Dirk?"
Eileen's face went pale, and she was at a loss for words.
The vice principal waved the matter aside for the moment and asked, "Why are you here at this hour? Shouldn't you be at orientation?"
Eileen blinked, unsure of what to say.
The principal and the instructors turned their attention to the vice principal, who continued in a firm voice, "Head back to school. There's nothing a student can do here. We'll sort out everything else later."
With that, he nodded to one of the instructors to escort her back to the school and help her with her enrollment.
The vice principal's words left Eileen standing there, watching them leave, feeling a mix of relief and confusion.
The remaining instructor chuckled, "The vice principal is notoriously hard to please. You must have made quite an impression. Come on, let's get you settled in at school."
Eileen was almost giddy with excitement. "I can really enroll?"
The instructor smiled, "Well, the vice principal said so, didn't he?"
Feeling a surge of happiness, Eileen followed the instructor back to the school to complete her enrollment.
Being a bit of a celebrity, and after causing such a commotion, her presence was the talk of the school. Students whispered as she walked by.
"Is she really alright?"
"She's actually enrolling?"
"This school is surprisingly lenient."
"Hey, she did take on Commander Dirk and held her ground. It's not like they said she had to pay for damages."
"She's a force to be reckoned with. Better not get on her bad side!"
Eileen kept her head down, walking quietly until they reached the dormitory.
The instructor left her at the girls' dormitory entrance, and Eileen made her way to her room, 309, carrying her belongings.
Inside, three girls were already settling in. One was making her bed, another organizing her things.
As Eileen entered, a short-haired girl looked up and exclaimed, "Oh my God!"
Her shout caught the attention of the other two, and the room suddenly fell silent.
Holding her suitcase, Eileen gave a shy smile and said, "Hi there."
The short-haired girl snapped out of her shock first and quickly replied, "Oh, hi! Hello!"
She gestured awkwardly around the room, finally pointing to an empty bed. "Uh, that one's free."
Eileen blinked, speechless.
The other two girls exchanged a look before sidling over to Eileen's side of the room, leaving the long-haired girl standing alone.
The long-haired girl tilted her head, still looking at the air. "Oh, it's gone now."
The three girls: "............."
Eileen would later come to know them as Una, the one with the short hair, Nana, the girl with the ponytail, and Olivia, the one with long, flowing locks.
And they all lived up to their names in the most literal sense.
It was the first day, just registration, no training or tests yet.
Everyone was busy settling in, unpacking their stuff, and doing the rounds to check out each other's dorms.
Eileen thought for sure being somewhat of a celebrity would mean people would flock to their room to sneak a peek at her.
But, hilariously enough, not a single soul showed up.
Feeling a bit down, she turned to her roommates and joked, "Is it because our dorm is haunted that no one wants to drop by?"
Una and Nana went silent, exchanging glances.
Then, as if on cue, they both looked over at Olivia in the corner.
Olivia was perched on her bed, her long dark hair a striking contrast as she slowly opened her eyes. She gazed at them and said, "Haunted houses often have a heavy, oppressive vibe. Stay too long, and it might make you sick..."
The three girls: "........."
"But," Olivia continued, her voice calm, "that's not the case here."
She then turned her gaze to Eileen, a ghostly pale smile spreading across her face, showing off her eerily white teeth. "You've got a lot of positive energy. With you around, it balances things out, keeping everything in harmony."
