The young man was on the verge of tears.
His new apprentice was gone just like that!
After Eileen finished comforting the old master, she squinted her eyes, scanning the surroundings.
The sacrifice of her third junior was not in vain.
She had pinpointed the ambush directions of the three teams.
The Mondot squad's sniper was on the third floor of the apartment building, on the left side.
The four-man team was positioned below the window on the south side of the security office.
The five-man team was stationed at the back door of the gym.
With these positions locked in, Eileen raised her rifle.
Seconds later.
"Whizz!"
The silenced sniper rifle fired a bullet.
[Eileen used b87, taking down Albert.]
With that single, directionless shot, the safe zone fell silent.
The members of the three squads cooled down.
Eileen fired once but didn't shoot again.
Even with a silencer, firing more would expose her position.
Eileen glanced at her watch.
There were twenty-four people left alive, and eighteen minutes until the next safe zone shift.
The next zone was the penultimate safe zone.
Time was running short.
As it stood, three in the security office, five in the gym, Mondot's squad...
Eileen recalled the previous encounter with Mondot's team, which consisted of nine members, including Mondot. She had taken down one of their female members, Julia, leaving eight.
But assuming a couple of them were fetching vehicles, she'd overestimate them by two more.
If the Mondot squad hadn't suffered further losses, they were now ten strong.
The three squads collectively had eighteen members, plus herself and her old master.
That made twenty.
Meaning, besides them, there were four loners hidden somewhere in this cramped safe zone.
In less than half an hour, the safe zone would shrink to the final circle.
Eileen steadied her nerves, patiently awaiting the next safe zone shift.
Ten minutes later.
The penultimate safe zone shifted, and where Eileen was hiding was no longer safe.
The young man whispered beside her, "We need to get inside."
Eileen knew, of course. She surveyed the surroundings and then, gritting her teeth, declared, "No other choice!"
She then downed a bottle of water, boosting her health to the max.
The young man watched her actions silently.
Eileen set the empty bottle down, then turned and dashed into the blizzard.
—[Oh my gosh, the blizzard at this stage is brutal, losing ten points per second!]
—[Why is she running out there? Shouldn't she head into the safe zone? Is she running against the poison?]
—[She can't get in anymore. The moment she moves, she'll be in the crossfire of three factions!]
—[It's mainly because it's too dark! It's pitch black all around, and you can't see anything through the scope! Otherwise, with Eileen's vision, she could take them out even if they're hiding inside!]
—[Ahhhh! Only twelve health left! Another second and she's done for! No, Eileen! Better to be shot than to die from poison! That's too humiliating!]
—[She's in! She made it with just two health points left!]
—[Eating some granola bars! Phew, thank goodness, her health is back up to forty.]
—[But forty is still risky, right? She could still die from a body shot!]
—[I told you, this show is for men. Women here are just cannon fodder!]
—[This is hilarious. Some people were fans of this girl earlier. How about now? Eating their words yet? Asians have nothing valuable to offer!]
—[So what? I think she's amazing. Even if she dies now, she's the last female contestant standing. We call that a Pyrrhic victory! I'm a girl, and I like her!]
—[Hahaha, how many female contestants were there anyway? You really have the nerve to say that.]
—[Girls just can't stand losing, can they?]
In the final moments of the first episode of "Valiant Quest" Season 2, the tension was palpable. With only eight seconds remaining on the clock, something extraordinary happened in the small safe zone, barely the size of a basketball court.
Eileen had bravely ventured into the blizzard to set up her plan. Suddenly, a chain of explosions erupted right where she'd placed her traps. The echo of the blast roared in the air, and the lower floors were engulfed in smoke and chaos.
The notifications began to roll in at the bottom left of the screen:
[Eileen used 9 bombs to eliminate Bagot.]
[Eileen used 9 bombs to eliminate Carr.]
[Eileen used 9 bombs to eliminate Grotte.]
[Eileen used 9 bombs to eliminate Mondot.]
[Eileen used 9 bombs to eliminate Regal.]
In a matter of seconds, all eight remaining survivors were wiped out by the unexpected detonations, leaving no one standing.
The battle was over.
Time seemed to pause in the aftermath, as the drone hovered in disbelief, finally settling near the rooftop of an apartment building. There, Eileen sat casually on the railing, her legs dangling over the edge, holding onto the bars with an air of nonchalance. The height of the seven-story drop didn’t seem to faze her at all.
As the drone approached, she nonchalantly raised a hand to greet it. "Hey there," she called out.
The operator of the drone quickly activated the loudspeaker, and the host's excited voice boomed through the microphone, "Hey, my incredible Miss Bonnie."
Eileen's dark eyes scanned the devastation below, where smoke and destruction lay thick on the ground. She looked back at the drone's camera and said, "I even ended up blowing up my mentor. If you could handle the arrangements, I'd like him cremated to medium rare, no need to flip, and it's okay if it sticks to the pan."
