Defying Fate: The Unstoppable Eileen novel Chapter 358

NightKing suddenly found himself at the center of an internet storm!

The air around them turned eerily silent.

Finally, Major Warner stepped in to break the tension. He handed NightKing a tissue and said, "Mr. NightKing, could we have a word in private?"

NightKing took the tissue, his fingers clenched slightly, and followed Major Warner into a room, his expression dark and brooding.

As soon as the "terrorist" left, the atmosphere in the living room lightened a bit.

Carlson turned to his younger sister, frowning, "Do you realize how dangerous that was?"

Eileen lowered her head, obediently listening to his reprimand. "I thought he was going to hurt you."

Carlson exhaled, running a hand through her hair gently. "I've been in more dangerous situations, Eileen. You don't need to put yourself at risk."

Eileen pursed her lips, staying silent.

Carlson probed further, "Did you call that wanted man something?"

Eileen hesitated, glancing at her brother. "Um?"

Carlson squinted. "I thought I heard you call him something?"

Amidst the chaos of gunfire, Carlson wasn't entirely sure, but it seemed like he'd heard Eileen call the fugitive "father" or something similar.

Seeing her brother's uncertain attitude, Eileen quickly denied, "I just said 'wait, don't,' I didn't call him anything."

Carlson remained skeptical, "Really?"

Eileen nodded vigorously and even pulled someone else into it. "Egbert, didn't I say that?"

Egbert, a stern-looking man, approached and shielded the somewhat anxious girl, meeting Carlson's gaze calmly. "You must have misheard, Carlson."

Carlson frowned, a bit annoyed. "In professional settings, call me Storm."

Egbert nodded. "Yes, Storm."

Carlson sighed, exasperated.

Ten minutes later, Major Warner emerged from the room!

He called over to Carlson and Egbert, "Silent Wing, Storm, could you step in for a moment?"

The door closed again, as if they were having a private meeting.

Eileen sat outside on the couch, waiting like a kid outside the principal's office.

At that moment, a soldier approached her, asking quietly, "Could I get your autograph?"

Eileen was taken aback, surprised to have a fan in Egbert's presence!

The soldier blushed, looking embarrassed. "Is this a bad time? If it's inconvenient, that's okay..."

Eileen, thrilled by the unexpected encounter, quickly agreed. "No, it's fine! I'd love to sign!"

The soldier eagerly handed her a pen and paper.

Eileen scrawled her signature with flair, then kindly asked, "Would you like a message? With your name? What's your name, sir?"

The soldier frowned at the name on the paper, puzzled. "Why does it say this?"

Eileen blinked, "Huh?"

The soldier asked, "I wanted Blood Phoenix. Aren't you Blood Phoenix? What did you sign here?"

Eileen felt awkward, stumbling over her words. "I... I'm not Blood Phoenix."

"Yes, you are!"

Another soldier, one of yesterday's "spies," chimed in!

Noticing Eileen's reluctance to acknowledge it, the "spy" insisted that she was indeed Blood Phoenix, beyond a doubt!

Eileen felt a bit wronged, wanting to explain!

But the soldier requesting the autograph sighed, "If you don't want to sign, that's okay."

Eileen didn't want to offend the military, fearing it might affect her future at military academy. Left with no choice, she tearfully scribbled the name "Blood Phoenix" on the paper in wobbly letters.

The soldier beamed with his new autograph, asking, "Weren't you going to write a message? Bless me or something, my name's Kearney."

Eileen added a message.

To Kearney: May you have many days like today.

Kearney was puzzled. "Today's not exactly a good day. It's like you're wishing for more days of gunfights."

Egbert couldn't help but chuckle, shaking his head in disbelief. He playfully pinched her nose. "Why didn't you just say no?"

Eileen lowered her gaze, murmuring, "What if they make things difficult for me later? They seem like the petty type."

Egbert took the knife from her hand and, holding her hand, said, "We need to get going."

Eileen looked surprised. "Now?"

"Yes," Egbert replied with a nod.

Eileen's disappointment grew. "I've been chopping away all this time, and I won't even get to taste it?"

Egbert sighed, feeling a mix of amusement and exasperation. "We'll grab a bite outside. I've booked the earliest flight, and it’s leaving soon."

With no real choice, Eileen followed Egbert out.

Just before they left, Carlson pulled Eileen aside, offering her some advice. "If you notice people watching you in the coming days, don't worry. They're from the military, here to ensure your safety."

Eileen blinked. "To protect me?"

Carlson nodded. "It's only temporary. Once we're sure there's no threat, they'll back off and won't interfere with your daily life."

Understanding, Eileen nodded, her expression sincere. "I'll cooperate completely."

Carlson seemed pleased, "Good."

With that, Eileen and Egbert made their way out.

An hour later, they arrived at Arden Airport.

While Egbert went to collect the tickets, Eileen waited, checking her phone. Suddenly, it rang—an unknown number.

Hesitant, she decided to answer.

At first, there was silence on the other end. Then, after a few moments, a cheerful, unfamiliar male voice came through. "I hear you're my apprentice?"
