"Whack!"
"Whack!"
Eileen slapped down the raised arms of Egbert and NightKing, one swift motion for each man.
The two men, stunned, lowered their hands and glanced away in silence.
Hale hesitated for a moment before asking, "Boss, what are we gonna do with this mess?"
Eileen, hands on her hips and clearly at her wit's end, glared at them. "Get the toolbox and have them fix it!"
Hale figured it wasn't going to be an easy fix, but he nodded and motioned for one of the crew to fetch the tools.
NightKing grumbled, "He was the last one out."
Eileen snapped back, "And you think that excuses you?"
Egbert started, "The room—"
"Room? What room?" Eileen cut him off, her voice rising. "You don't have a room! You're staying right here!"
Egbert was left speechless.
NightKing let out a sarcastic chuckle.
Eileen turned her fiery gaze on him. "And what's so funny? No dinner for you either!"
NightKing's smirk vanished in an instant.
Soon, a lackey brought over the toolbox.
Eileen dropped it at Egbert and NightKing's feet. "Fix it!"
Without waiting for a response, she spun around and marched off.
As she turned, she caught sight of Hana peeking around the corner of the hallway, her head half-visible.
Upon being spotted, Hana froze.
Eileen, in full battle mode, barked, "What are you doing out here? Get back inside!"
Hana quickly retreated into the room.
Later that evening, Thein reported back, saying the door was mostly fixed, but the floor tiles were still shattered, and new ones hadn't arrived yet.
Eileen rubbed her temples, feeling the weight of the day. "What are they doing now?" she asked.
Thein replied, "One's eating dinner, and the other's watching him eat."
Eileen sighed deeply.
She waved Thein away, uninterested in further conversation. "Forget about them. Just get that woman in the room ready. I'm taking her with me tomorrow."
Thein blinked, surprised. "You're leaving?"
Eileen nodded. "Yes, I'm leaving this place."
Thein's face lit up with a huge grin. "You're really leaving, boss?"
Eileen shot him a cool glance. "If you're so happy about it, just laugh already. Is my leaving that great?"
Thein quickly shook his head, feigning sorrow. "No way! If you leave, we'll be like a ship without a captain! How could I be happy?"
Eileen said, "Then come with me. We'll disband here, start fresh somewhere else, and build a new empire!"
Thein hesitated. "Maybe I should stay behind to keep an eye on things. Maloney and Hale can go with you. Once you've established the new place, you can send for me?"
Eileen rolled her eyes. "Just get that woman ready."
Thein eagerly nodded and ran off.
An hour later, Maloney and Hale heard the news about Eileen leaving the next day.
Hale was over the moon with joy! The tyrant was finally leaving, and he was tempted to celebrate with fireworks!
But Maloney was worried. He'd defected from the Bloodbane Shadowsociety and depended on Eileen for protection. With her leaving, what would become of him?
That night, Maloney hurried to find Eileen.
She was busy packing—a surprise considering she had arrived with nothing but now had bags upon bags.
Mostly local snacks from the nearby Arden City specialty shops. They were cheaper here, and with her new position as the local boss, she got VIP discounts. It was a bargain she couldn't resist!
The one named Casey asked, "You expecting it to stop a burglar?"
The Trickster fell silent.
Maloney, completely unaware of the situation, swaggered up behind the Trickster and slapped him hard on the shoulder. "Hey there!"
The man with the stormy gray eyes froze momentarily. He pressed his lips together and slowly turned his head.
In the next second...
Maloney's face went pale. "What the—!"
His eyes widened, and he let out a blood-curdling scream that echoed through the hallway.
Eileen tried to keep her cool at first.
But the screaming went on and on, grating on her nerves until she couldn't take it anymore. She stormed out of her cell!
Standing in the corridor, she spotted Egbert leaning casually against the wall, sipping his coffee and enjoying the show.
NightKing had Maloney pinned under his boot, grinding down on Maloney's eyeball with the sole.
Maloney shrieked like a banshee.
The racket drove Eileen up the wall, and she bellowed, "Keep it down!"
The world fell silent.
A moment later, Egbert, with a smirk, took his coffee and retreated back to his cell.
Maloney quickly slapped a hand over his own mouth.
NightKing lifted his foot off Maloney's face.
He was about to head back to his cell too when Eileen interjected, "Why won't the gate latch?"
NightKing frowned and muttered, "Silent Wing said..."
Eileen cut him off, "Fix it! Or else you'll be the one getting clobbered!"
NightKing sighed deeply, his lips tightening into a thin line. He hesitated briefly before picking up the screwdriver from the floor, muttering under his breath, "You're always taking his side!"
