Deep Love of The Perfect Bride novel Chapter 7

Ayla didn't answer her friends. Because she knew they wouldn't understand her situation, no matter how much she explained.

Ayla spent a long time in the library after their conversation. Not until it was dark that she felt her eyes straining. Rubbing her eyes, she raised her head and eyed around the place. There were few people in the library now. Ayla sighed as she put away the books and rubbed her sore shoulders. Her eyes drifted to the clock on the wall as realization washed over her. She was late to return to the villa.

She frowned. This was bad. This shouldn't have happened. Ayla quickly stood up and rushed out of the school and saw the familiar car, already waiting for her. "Lyle, I'm so sorry! I didn't realize it was this late."

Lyle looked at her indifferently and said, "Mrs. Clark, please get in the car. Mr. Clark is waiting for you in the villa."

The entire ride, she fidgeted nervously. How could she forget the time? Brian had asked her to return to the villa at half past five in the evening every day. But at the very first day, she broke the rules.

The living room of the villa was brightly lit. The imported Italian crystal chandelier was shining brightly overhead. But the atmosphere inside was very cold.

As soon as Ayla entered the living room, her eyes flew to Brian, who was sitting on the sofa and smoking. The strong smell of cigarette made her feel queasy. She coughed for several times, as the smoke entered her nostrils. Her eyes dropped on the ashtray full of cigarette butts as she bit her lips. She was doomed today. Ayla cleared her throat as she addressed Brian, "Mr. Clark, I-1 am so sorry. I forgot the time."

Brian snapped immediately, "How dare you ignore my words?"

He made it very clear this morning that she must return on time. But she was two hours late. How could she be so careless and think he would forgive her for just an apology?

"No. I am telling the truth. I really didn't notice the time." However, her explanation didn't make much difference. Because he didn't believe her to the least.

He suspected she did it on purpose and now was lying to escape his fury.

Although she just stayed with him for two days, she just knew how his mind worked. But she had to face this cold and ruthless man every day in the future.

Brian threw the cigarette butt in the astray, then stood up and walked up to her. "Whom did you meet? Tell me!"

Their eyes met as her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He was doubting her.

"You don't have to know that. Also you won't believe me even if I tell you the truth." Ayla was weak, but she valued her self-esteem and she was very stubborn.

"Come upstairs with me," Brian commanded her coldly, then turned around and went upstairs.

Ayla glanced at Maria's sympathetic eyes which made her nervous. She bit her lips, then followed him upstairs.

Upon reaching the bedroom, Brian sat on the sofa and said, "You are tough and stubborn, Arlene. But you should know that if you are disrespectful to me, I can make the Woodsen family vanish from the Earth."

Now she feared, by the time he'd come back, she'd no longer be qualified enough to be with him. Even if she was waiting for him, she knew she was no longer free because of her forced marriage.

When Brian pushed the bathroom door open, he noticed Ayla had curled up in a ball and was weeping violently. Her entire body was strangely tinted red. He went and checked on her by placing his hand on her shoulder and realized she was having a high fever.

He suspected her again. Perhaps, she intentionally took a cold shower to get a high fever. She was playing nothing but a trick on him.

"Maria!" Brian shouted aloud. When Maria came running, he asked her to send Ayla to another guest room.

"Sir, Mrs. Clark has a high fever. Do you want me to call a doctor?" Maria was a little worried.

Brian stood aside without saying anything. He hesitated for a while.

"Toby, Toby..." Ayla kept murmuring. She saw Toby in her unconscious state. She saw he had come to take her with him. He promised he'd take her away to a place where there were only the two of them. There they could live together forever.

Was she calling another man's name? Who was he?

Brian's eyebrows knitted in a frown. With a dismissive hand gesture at Maria, Brian left the room without saying a word. In less than ten minutes, his car drove away from the villa.
