Wilma came rushing in after Shawn left.

When she learned she got a shot at a Hollywood role, she was so thrilled she nearly jumped onto Maja. She kissed the contract passionately, swore to the sky she'd treasure this trust, and then left with tears in her eyes.

Out of the three, Cornelia Sullivan was the calmest.

Cornelia's hand couldn't fully clutch things yet. She took ten minutes to read the contract carefully, then signed her name.

When she left, she just gently hugged Maja, not saying a word.

But this left the most profound emotional impact on Maja.

Cornelia's parents were in the scrap business, and she was once the most loved child in her home. Being cornered by the Casson family, she probably never thought she would have a footing again.

Elvis was right. She was tough, like a rose in the desert.

And she was also very pretty.

When everything was over, it was almost one o'clock.

Maja was exhausted and almost fell asleep on her way back, driven by Zoey.

She thought she'd see Ian in the living room but remembered Maria had called earlier saying Ian had moved out.

Well, good. At least no one would bother her now.

She leaned tiredly on the couch, hearing Maria questioning others.

"Sure it's not here? Weird, where could it have gone."

Maja didn't even open her eyes, and her throat was a bit hoarse from not drinking for a long time.

"Maria, what's going on?"

"Coco was missing. We checked the surveillance and sealed the hole from last time. In theory, there's nowhere it could have gone, but we've searched around the villa, no sign of it."

Maja instantly woke up thinking about the last time Coco was taken by a dog dealer.

After that incident, all possible escape routes around the villa had been reinforced, except for the main gate, but there were guards there. How could it be missing again?

She forced her tired body up.

"Are you sure you've searched everywhere? It's a naughty one, and maybe it's hiding?"

"We've searched everywhere."

"Then, has anyone entered or left Rosewood Manor today?"

"Just Mr. Raymond. If Coco could have escaped, it might have followed his car."

Maja immediately called Ian, but it was close to one in the morning, and Ian didn't pick up.

She had to call Jeff, who did pick up.

"Jeff, did you see Coco when you left Rosewood Manor today?"

Jeff was taken aback. He knew where Coco was, but the boss didn't allow him to say.

Ian was still working in the living room, his phone resting nearby. He heard it when it rang.

He obviously didn't want to pick up.

Maja lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

Even though her body was exhausted, her mind became more and more alert.

She stayed up until dawn, her head splitting with pain.

When Maria brought her breakfast, she looked worried.

"Ms. Pennyfeather, do you think Coco was taken by a dog dealer?"

"I don't think so. I think it's probably with Mr. Raymond."

"Are you sure?"

Maja gave a bitter smile. She wasn't sure either.

But the fact that even the surveillance couldn't find Coco made it clear someone had tampered with it.

If it wasn't Ian, who could it be?

She downed a cup of strong coffee and was about to drive to the Raymond Corporation when Beck called.

"Shawn from your company left last night, Ms. Pennyfeather. Remember our agreement. Don't see Ian again, or I won't know how to explain to my sister."

Maja deflated. If she went to the Raymond Corporation and ran into Ian, it would be breaking her promise to Beck.

"Mr. Sanders, I think my dog might have been taken by Mr. Raymond."

There was a silence from Beck's side, and then he burst out, "Ian, a CEO, stole your dog?"
