Because he was driving, he didn't check the caller ID and answered on speakerphone.

"What's up?"

A familiar voice came from the other end.

"Ian, why aren't you answering my calls? I miss you, don't you miss me?"

The caller wasn't a first-time caller. Ian hung up immediately and stole a glance at Maja.

Maja was still staring out the window, unbothered by the call.

He explained quickly, "Must have been a prank call. I don't know who that was."

Ian gripped the steering wheel tightly, eventually stopping the car in a secluded spot with no other vehicles around.

Maja immediately became alert, hearing the sound of car doors being locked.

"What are you up to?"

Ian adjusted his seat backwards, making more room.

Ian also felt humiliated, especially begging to a woman, which made him feel a bit suffocated.

"No matter what I do, you'll never like me, right?"

She didn't respond.

He stepped on the gas decisively, safely taking her to the hospital.

Even after parking, he got out and opened the door for her.

Just as Maja stepped onto the ground, she heard him ask again, "Is it true that no matter what I do, you'll never like me?"
