Ian was up on his feet, ready to hit the road.

But his sight was blurry, his eyes heavily fixated on the dishes on the table.

These were birthday meals prepared by his Mom, Selena, and his Granny, Edith, who sneakily drugged him.

A sharp pain hit Ian's heart, and he rubbed his forehead.

"I don't love Carlene; I don't want to marry her. Eric may still be alive, so,"

His words were cut off by Edith.

"Don't lie to me anymore, Holden Raymond has already told me that Eric can't possibly be alive, even though I wish he were. Ian, if you're feeling bad, let Carlene help you."

Feeling dizzy, Ian saw Carlene approaching him through his blurred vision.

"Back off!"

He grabbed her wrist and pushed her away forcefully.

Carlene fell onto the floor, almost bursting into tears.

Edith was furious, grabbing Ian's clothes.

"What the hell are you doing, are you not satisfied with all my arrangements? Do you even consider me as family anymore?"

Ian held back his remaining sanity, not wanting to push her over. After all, Edith was old and wouldn’t be able to handle it.

"I consider you as family, but what about you? Am I just a substitute for Eric? I'm a person with feelings, don't you guys see that?!"

After saying that, Ian couldn't be bothered to say more, his aura growing colder.

"I won't be coming back."

With no hesitation, he walked out.

But the next second, Edith suddenly picked up a chair nearby and smashed it into Ian's head.

Selena, who saw it all, screamed in terror.

After a while, he said, "If anything happens to Ian, everyone involved with this incident will pay the price!"

Selena, who had been slapped, shrank back. As for Carlene, she had been sent home.

But the Shepard family didn't accept her anymore, so she was abandoned by them again.

Holden closed his eyes and told the person next to him, "Bankrupt the EverBest Group within two days, and send Carlene to prison. I want her to rot in there for the rest of her life."
