She made her way to the top-floor room and used her keycard to unlock the door.

Once inside, she slowly slid down the door to sit on the floor.

Her clothes were drenched in alcohol, making her look like a complete mess. Her legs felt like jelly.

Irritated, she brushed her hand across her face only to realize it was burning hot, probably blushing like a tomato.

That intense feeling of anxiety still lingered in every cell of her body. She had never been so stirred up before; it felt as though she had just opened the door to a new world.

And all of this happened right under the noses of others.

That jerk.

Why did people think he’s some sort of celibate nobleman? He’s just like any other guy.

Maja was still in a daze. She rested for half an hour, then dragged her weary body into the shower before collapsing into bed.

She had come here hoping to meet some big shots in the entertainment industry, but she just didn’t have the energy at the moment.

Maybe later, she thought, she'd go out and mingle.

It was only seven now; the party would really kick off around nine.

Meanwhile, Ian was looking for Tyler.

Tyler wasn’t with any movie star at the moment; he was taking in the view with Phelps.

Phelps hadn’t been back in Greenfield for years, and at the moment, they were all alone. Fitch was still busy entertaining other guests.

As Ian approached, Tyler sniffed the air.

“Why do I smell trouble?”

Ian didn’t smell this strongly of alcohol when he left.

Phelps shot him a look and then asked, “Is it that Penny again?”

Ian didn’t deny it. He leaned back in his chair, an inscrutable expression in his eyes.

Tyler stroked his chin with a smirk on his face.

“To be honest, she looked hotter in that dress than any of the stars here tonight.”

Ian frowned. “Don’t you dare make a move on her.”

Tyler found this amusing and decided to provoke him further.

“By the way, is she planning on getting a divorce?”

As expected, Ian’s face darkened. He had done everything he was supposed to do, from her house to the hotel to the car; he’d been with her almost everywhere that might attract attention.

Could any other man satisfy her now?

Tyler was surprised. “You've had contact with her? Last time she appeared, she was all covered up as if she were ill, her face full of pimples. Everyone said she was ugly.”

Ugly?

If Ian’s wife was ugly, then the woman he had met in the hospital must be someone else with the same name.

“The one I met wasn’t ugly; she was actually quite beautiful.”

“That can’t be her.”

Phelps turned to look at Ian and asked, “Who would know better about her looks than Ian?”

Ian’s mind flashed back to the scene of that woman calling him darling in a pretentious manner, and his face turned sour.

“Ugly, pretentious, greedy, and shameless.”

Just thinking of her made him feel sick.

Before he had finished speaking, someone came over to ask Ian to entertain some partners who had come to propose a toast. He asked if Ian was available.

Ian was in a relatively good mood after his encounter with Maja, and considering the Raymond family's plans to break into the entertainment industry, he really needed to network more.

He got up, telling the two men, “I’m going to meet some people.”

Watching Ian walk away, Tyler commented, “Phelps, that Penny is someone else’s wife, but damn, she’s got a banging body. Now I get why Ian is so desperate to chase after her. If I spot her later, I’ll point her out to you.”
