When Maja returned to her office, she could still hear the sounds of people moving furniture and chatting outside.

Back in the day, when Neil was still with the Neilian Group, he was all about expanding production lines without considering the resource waste. Zoey was always by her side, his eyes brimming with excitement. "Mr. Pennyfeather, I'm with you all the way."

There was something about Maja. In front of all the male higher-ups, she was cool and calm. Her voice, icy and clear, made people shut up and listen.

Maja chuckled, rubbing her temples.

"I'm not sure how far I can push this, but we can't keep going like this. Short videos are trending now and will continue to be for a while. If we grab this opportunity, we can get some gains."

"Your idea is excellent. It may seem crazy at first, but the Pennyfeather group has been stagnant for years, barely scraping by. Maja flicked through the documents in her hands without saying a word. She noticed a new cleaning lady coming in, not the one before.

She frowned, "Zoey, where's the cleaning lady for our floor?"

Zoey thought for a moment.

"You mean May? She hasn't been here for three days. We couldn’t reach her, so we got someone else for now."

Maja's brows knitted together. She was considering going to look for her herself when there was sudden commotion outside the office. Then, the door was pushed open, and Ferris Pennyfeather walked in with the police, followed by a raging Hattie Zimmer.

Seeing Maja sitting in the luxurious office, a hint of jealousy flashed in Ferris's eyes. "It's her fault! My wife died because of overwork!"

May had passed away? Maja remembered their interactions. May looked a little older than her peers but seemed to be in good health. After all, the Pennyfeather group did annual health checks for employees. May had a tough life with Ferris but she didn't have any health issues.

Maja stood up, "Where's her body?"

As soon as he finished, Hattie started crying and making a scene on the floor. "I demand compensation today! You owe me an explanation."

Maja didn't even look at her, just dialed the security team. "Could you come up and get this person out of here?"

Hattie was scared into silence, still muttering complaints as she got up from the floor.

The police only came to ask a few questions. Now that the investigation had begun, they found no serious overtime issues. In fact, May even left work early during this period. However, the Pennyfeather group should provide some compensation out of humanity, given the previous labor contract. But Maja didn't plan to pay this money for now. May was already a burden to Ferris's family and if he could exchange his wife for money, he would be happy to accept. This is where Maja felt helpless.

After the police and these two left, she furrowed her brows.

That night, she and Zoey began to track Ferris.

Ferris had a nice salary now. Zoey handed her a bill. "Mr. Pennyfeather, this is their family's expenses that I had checked today. Ferris doesn't give May a penny of his salary, other than paying the mortgage. All of May's income is used for the family's expenditure."
