Maja was a pro at self-suggestion, making problem-solving as easy as cashing a check. With the additional four million, her bank account bloomed to a total of seven million, making her feel like she was walking on clouds.

But every time she caught sight of the marks on her neck, she would furrow her eyebrows. Maybe next time, she thought, she should tell him to be gentler. Having to wear a scarf all the time got weird.

Just as she was leaving the hotel, the police called. Tom had ratted out Tricia.

Tricia had fled abroad, but with the evidence stacked against her, an international warrant had been issued. If she so much as showed her face overseas, she’d be deported back home unless she went incognito.

Tom and his gang were definitely out of the Pennyfeather group for good. The group was currently in turmoil with their departure.

But luckily, Maja had secured a partnership with Silverstone Enterprises, and they had sent over Nathan.

Judson was a savvy guy. Knowing that Nathan and Maja had a good relationship, he sent Nathan over as a subtle way of telling Maja he still owed her a favor.

Maja naturally gave Judson a thank-you call and then signed the contract with Nathan.

“How’s your sister?” Nathan asked.

“She was just scared; she had some stitches, but she’s much better now.”

Nathan had his flaws, but when collaborating with Maja, he knew his boundaries. He wouldn't pry where he shouldn't, and he certainly wouldn’t betray what shouldn’t be betrayed.

Like when Knox kidnapped him, he was forced to call Maja, but despite being knocked out, he held his ground and didn't call.

Or like now. Even though Maja was just an interior designer, she could sign contracts on behalf of the Neilian Group.

He knew better than to voice any opinions, so he simply asked, “Penny, fancy grabbing dinner tonight?”

“I’ve got stuff to handle today.”

“Alright, then I'll head back to Silverstone Enterprises and report to Mr. Judson.”

Maja nodded, and after Nathan left, she got up and left her office, only to see May diligently cleaning up.

But she seemed a bit off today, like she couldn't crouch down.

Maja approached and noticed the marks on her neck. Her heart clenched.

“Did Ferris hit you again?” Maja asked.

Since May had cooperated with the police, Maja had given her a raise. Now she was making over two grand a month.

In Greenfield, that was a decent salary.

Even though Greenfield was a bustling city, the median monthly income was about twelve hundred dollars. So, making over two grand meant you were better off than most.

But the housing prices here started at seven thousand per square meter, even in remote areas. The average person would need family support and to live frugally to barely afford a house.

Maja glanced at him, thinking that those who understood timing were wise.

He was a clever man, one she could trust in the future.

Everyone in the room was restless. No one had expected that group of people to be taken away by the police.

Maja tapped her fingertips on the table and placed the contract signed with Silverstone Enterprises on it.

“If we don't have any other orders during this period, look for some small companies to collaborate with. Don't act arrogant like a listed company. Every little helps, so put your pride aside.”

No one dared to argue with her. After all, Maja had solved the Silverstone Enterprises problem within a week and had eight senior executives leave. Everyone felt like they could be fired at any moment.

“Those of you who embezzled before, you'd better cough it all up before I start auditing. I'll let you settle accounts with the finance director privately. If anyone is short, once I find out, you can join the others at the police station. You guys can form a soccer team.”

Everyone in the room was trembling, and their attitudes were even more respectful.

Maja couldn't be bothered with their act: “Within half a month, I want to see increased orders, big or small; I will review them all personally.”

“Yes, Ms. Pennyfeather, have a good day.”

Everyone saw Maja walk to the conference room door, bowing their heads respectfully and wiping the cold sweat from their foreheads.

Maja worked late into the evening at the company. Just as she was about to drive home, a car pulled up. It was Samuel Brown’s car.
