After Holden finished speaking, he clutched his chest.

Ian stopped in his tracks and rushed to support him.

"Chill out, I’ll call her."

He helped Holden sit on the sofa and got a nasty glare from him.

"Don't think I don't know why you hooked up with Carlene in the first place. It was all because of your big bro, wasn't it?"

Ian didn't answer. Instead, he gently patted Holden's back.

"You feeling better now?"

Holden took a deep breath.

"If you really cared about me, you wouldn't piss me off. Maja is a girl I handpicked. If you took the time to get to know her, you'd realize she's worth loving."

Again, Ian didn't respond. He couldn't care less how lovable Maja was.

Once Holden had recovered, he pushed Ian's hand away.

"Call Maja. If I catch wind of any more of your bullshit, I won't hold back next time!"

Ian was cornered. If Holden had threatened him with something else, like the heir position of the Raymond family or CEO of the Raymond Group, he wouldn't have given a damn.

But Holden had to go for the jugular and bring up his own health.

Reluctantly, Ian pulled out his phone, dialed a number he hadn't contacted before.

It was Maja's personal number.

Maja had already laid down in RosenGarden. She had been exhausted lately. With Leah's issue just resolved, she could finally get some rest.

When she heard the phone ringing, she furrowed her brows, assuming it was Carlene calling to stir up trouble again because she hadn't found the cat.

Without checking, Maja turned off her phone.

After that, she covered herself with the blanket, finally resting.

Ian's call was disconnected, and he could tell Holden's expression had worsened.

Once the hall was quiet, he coughed a few times. His cheeks were flushed from the fever, but his eyes were sharp. He knew Holden wouldn't come to Rosewood Manor unless his wife had tattled on him.

The hall was extremely quiet now. Maria quickly brought him a glass of water.

"Mr. Raymond, please have a drink."

Ian sat alone on the sofa. Maria dared not look at him directly. She stole a few glances and had to admit that Mr. Raymond was indeed very handsome.

His appearance was top-notch. The faint smile in his eyes was intoxicating. No wonder Carlene had pursued him.

Maria stood there, thinking, and finally couldn't help but speak up for Maja.

"Ms. Pennyfeather is always proper at Rosewood Manor. She's been working overtime these few days, so..."

Before she could finish, he cut her off coldly.

"I'm not interested in her."

Maria was immediately disheartened, not understanding why Mr. Raymond wouldn't like someone as excellent as Ms. Pennyfeather.
