Maja apologized too quickly. Conversations with this woman always felt suffocating.

"Mr. Raymond, I'm going to conduct a site inspection first, and then we can discuss the design plans. If you're satisfied, I'll proceed with the renovation team."

Ian nodded, not giving her a second glance. Maja accidentally bumped into a woman carrying a cup of coffee as she left the office. Maja stepped aside to make way, but the woman, dressed extravagantly with a full face of makeup, deliberately tripped Maja, causing the coffee to spill all over her light-colored professional outfit.

Frowning, Maja looked at the woman, who clearly lacked acting skills. The woman raised her eyebrows, pretending to be surprised, and covered her mouth.

"Oh my, I'm so sorry. Miss, let me find some wipes to clean it up for you."

Maja glanced at the woman's ID badge and saw her name was Dana Shepard. A member of the Shepard family? Maja suspected she might be connected to Ian's past.

Dana expected Maja to brush off the incident politely after her insincere apology. However, Maja stood her ground and smiled.

"Sure, please find some wipes to clean it up."

Dana's expression changed, thinking she might have misheard. She had purposely fetched a dark coffee, anticipating it would not easily wipe off Maja's clothes once spilled. She hadn't expected this response.

Nervously, Dana stammered, "The wipes might not be sufficient."

"Well, then find an alternative solution. Or perhaps you could order a suitable outfit for me online. I have important work to do and no time to go home and change."

Dana's face darkened. Did this woman lack social awareness?

Onlookers observed the spectacle. Some were entertained by the situation, while others whispered amongst themselves. A new intern, Dana, displayed arrogance due to her connection with the Shepard family.

"Let go! Where's security? Where's the security on this floor?"

Just as Dana shouted for help, the door to Ian's office unexpectedly opened. Startled, Maja instinctively released Dana's hand, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the floor.

Maja innocently looked at Dana as if to say, "This has nothing to do with me."

Dana seethed with anger, her chest heaving, as she turned her gaze towards Ian.

"Cousin-in-law..."

Those words created an awkward atmosphere. Many people were still unaware of Ian's marriage, and in their eyes, he remained single. Dana's address implied that the rumors about Ian's lingering feelings for Carlene were true, and he had been waiting for her return all these years.
