Nathan hung up the phone with a smug look on his face as he watched Gerber.

Gerber, however, was still skeptical.

"Did you hire someone to impersonate Penny? How the hell do you know her?"

Nathan wanted to blurt out that he was now her husband, but he knew it was a lie, and it would be pretty embarrassing if he got busted. So, he held back from boasting.

Gerber's gaze lingered on Nathan, his attitude softening a bit.

"All right, Nathan. I'll double your salary if you can convince Penny not to blow this up. You're making $500 a month, right? I'll bump it up to $1,000."

Nathan had been at this company for a while. Despite not having the same education as others, he was pretty capable, but Gerber had been holding him back, and he’d never gotten a raise.

In the workplace, asking about a coworker's salary is considered impolite. He knew he was at the bottom of the pile even though he didn't know what others were making. His buddy, who always complained about the boss with him, had already raised $600.

Seeing Nathan's hesitance, Gerber scoffed, “I’m offering you a hefty raise, and you are still not biting? Look around, no other employee with your education level is getting this kind of deal.”

Nathan sucked in a deep breath, silently cussing out Gerber before finally lifting his head.

"Got it. I'll go talk to Penny now."

As Gerber left, he bumped into the president of Silverstone Enterprises in the elevator. The man was sweating bullets, complaining to his assistant.

"What's the deal? Why is Mr. Raymond suddenly popping in for a visit? Penny's coming soon, too. If Mr. Raymond and Penny cross paths, we don't have to wait for Penny to find him and he’ll know that.”

The president of Silverstone Enterprises had never been in this situation before. Many domestic companies wanted to cooperate with Ian Raymond. If this project failed, Silverstone Enterprises would definitely be ridiculed, especially since they had already announced the cooperation.

Nathan stood aside, a glint in his eyes, then spoke up respectfully.

"I know Penny. I'm about to go pick her up. I'll try to stall her in the lobby so you can get Mr. Raymond out of here before they bump into each other."

The president was frantic, but seeing a low-level employee chime in, he raised an eyebrow.

"All right, if you can pull that off, I'll give you a promotion."

Nathan's cheeks flushed with excitement. It looked like the boss was already fed up with Gerber.

If he got promoted, he would inevitably replace Gerber.

Maja nodded. Because of the issues with Silverstone Enterprises, she looked a bit off.

"Nathan, how did you know I was coming to Silverstone Enterprises?"

As they entered the lobby, Nathan pointed to the couch by the floor-to-ceiling window, "Penny, let's sit over there, and I'll explain."

Maja frowned, unsure of his intentions but followed him anyway. Once seated, she sat up straight.

Nathan was seeing the working Maja for the first time. Her aura was so strong that he felt a bit of pressure sitting across from her.

"Penny, are you planning to sue Silverstone Enterprises?"

Maja raised an eyebrow, laughing lightly, "Are you here to negotiate on behalf of Silverstone Enterprises? Nathan, although I hired you regarding my work, I won't show any leniency. It won't help whoever comes to plead with me. I hope you understand your place."

Nathan felt a bit awkward. He hadn't expected Maja to be so assertive in her work.

Before he could say anything, she had already shut him down.
