No sooner had Maja left than Quentin flicked a piece of candy onto Patric's lap.

"Dope, this one's for you."

Patric, of course, couldn't tell if it was a gesture of kindness or malice. The poor guy was genuinely a dumb now.

He picked up the candy, unwrapped it, and popped it into his mouth.

Quentin perched himself on a rock and asked him.

"Is it sweet?"

"Sweet."

"Really?"

Now, watching Patric, who understood nothing of the world, Quentin felt a twinge of envy.

His mischievous side suddenly kicked in.

"Dope, Maja's about to die."

He wasn't lying. After tonight, Maja would be dead.

Few could endure the kind of torture she'd face.

And since K was looking for Maja, she must be important to him.

Anything that would put K at a disadvantage was a pleasure for Quentin.
