Maja didn't expect Ian to react to her message, so she just headed off for a shower. When she got out and got dressed, all she saw was a message that her 100,000 yuan transfer had been returned, and no other messages from Ian.

Maja frowned. Did he not want her to pay?

Even though she knew Ian was loaded, he always seemed to give her the cold shoulder.

To be more precise, they were both cold to each other and weren't close enough to casually lend 100,000 dollars.

She couldn't read Ian's mind, and their shared meal was still fresh in her memory. She decided to snap a photo of the broken umbrella and send it to him. Then she urged the agent again, hoping they would press the bank to hurry up with the loan so she could get the hell out of Rosewood Manor. Dodging him all the time wasn't the long term strategy.

By tomorrow night, when Ian found out who she really was, he would probably want her gone ASAP. She needed to be realistic.

Ian was just drying his hair when he saw the photo.

"Okay," was all he said.

"Mr. Raymond, don't you want me to pay you back?"

"Okay."

Realizing his cold demeanor, Maja didn't ask anymore.

"Thank you."

The conversation was so bland and uninteresting, she just put her phone down and stopped replying.

Meanwhile, Ian fired up his nearby computer and started reviewing some new files until his eyes landed on a gift box on his desk. It was a present Holden had asked him to give Maja.

Ian frowned, picked up the box and went outside.

Maria was dusting the villa's decor. Seeing Ian come out, she immediately put down her duster.

"Mr. Raymond, do you need anything?"

Ian had two degrees, one in art, and he felt like skimming through the book.

Maja had a habit of writing her name and current nickname on the second page of her books. Once Ian opened it, he'd see the word "penny".

His fingers were on the edge of the cover, just about to flip it open when his eyes landed on the bedside table.

Underneath the book, there was something. Silver in color, it looked like a male's private parts.

The object made Ian's mind wander. He frowned and put down the book. He didn't give the object another glance and quickly made his way out of the room.

For the first time, Ian felt a bit embarrassed and irritated.

As he exited the room, he saw Maria outside. Just as Maria was about to ask, Ian quickly walked past her. She was taken aback but didn't say anything, just carefully closed the bedroom door.

Back in his own master bedroom, Ian had a drink of water to shake off the embarrassment.
