Maja sat down in the rest area by the window and quickly typed out a reply.

[Can I meet him in person first?]

She was right outside Raymond Tower, ready to meet Ian if he was willing.

The lawyers said they would negotiate, then they stopped responding.

At the top of the building.

The man sitting behind a black marble desk was looking down at some documents.

Jeff walked in, "Mr. Raymond, Ms. Pennyfeather would like to see you."

Ian lifted his gaze from the papers briefly. His tone was indifferent, obviously not in the mood to chat.

"No."

It was clearly a tactic to avoid divorce. Did she think a meeting could change anything? She was being overly confident.

He frowned, his voice cold and heavy, "Have the lawyers send the divorce agreement to the Pennyfeather family. Let's see if she'll sign."

Jeff nodded, not going into too much detail about the first lady's affairs, and confirmed the schedule, "Reyes Gallegos, the president of Summit Bank, has arranged to meet you at the golf course this afternoon. We can head out now."

Ian stood up, adjusted his tie, and simply said, "Alright."

As the time ticked by, several people arrived where Maja was seated—both men and women, all formally dressed.

She sat quietly on the side, like a beautiful painting, until the phone rang. It was the Pennyfeather family.

Neil's tone was unusually frantic.

"Maja, what's happening? Why does Ian suddenly want a divorce? Did something happen between you two? You should come home so we can talk."

Maja paused before replying, "Dad, you know he's been abroad for three years after we got married. What else could it be about?"

Neil was so anxious he was practically frothing at the mouth, "Maja, we can't divorce now. Our family is in a tough spot. We're about to start a second round of financing. If we divorce now, our stocks will definitely be affected. The shareholders might even pull out."

Cristina's voice could be heard in the background.

"I've always said she's not on your side. We can't rely on her. If she'd tried harder, would Ian have had the lawyers send the divorce papers right to our home? We're a laughing stock now!"

Neil fell silent for a moment before quietly saying, "I'm doing this for your own good, Maja. It's hard for a divorced woman to remarry. Let's go find Holden. He's always been fond of you..."

Maja felt a lump in her throat. Was he doing this for her, or for the company? Or for Cristina's family?

But she couldn't ask.

She followed the assistant and found herself in a changing room.

The assistant explained, "The golf course needs to be maintained, so only players and caddies are allowed on it. I've prepared a golf club for you. Do you play golf?"

"I do, but I'm not very good."

"That's fine. You can change into some clothes, they're waiting for you on the course."

Maja nodded. In the past, she'd played tennis and gone fishing with clients to secure orders. Playing golf was nothing to her.

The assistant had prepared a white sporty miniskirt and a matching hairband. Maja tied her long hair into a ponytail, picked up the club bag, and walked out.

Just as she was looking out at the golf course from the lobby, she turned around and saw a tall man surrounded by a group of people. He had an extraordinary aura, exuding a cold and intimidating presence.

Maja froze in her tracks. So Ian was here too.

She was standing in the most conspicuous position. It would be hard not to be noticed.

She stood tall, her ponytail high, radiating youthful energy. Her legs were long and straight under the miniskirt. A red mark on her knee was particularly noticeable.

Ian only glanced at her once before looking away.
